Kakashi
I kept glancing at Rin. We had just arrived at the land of waves and she hasn’t spoken the entire way. She seemed deep in thought but nervous at the same time. I sighed lightly; maybe I shouldn’t have approached her like that. So directly.
“I was an assassin” I turned slightly glancing down at Rin as she caught up to my pace in front of the others.
“What?” She sighed and kept her eyes cast to the ground.
“I used to be an assassin. A criminal in the bingo books. Though I was so good they didn’t have a name, age, correct gender or picture.”
“But, you don’t have the build or…”
“Blinding speed, ridiculous flexibility and agility was what set me apart from others. Combine that with my sharingan and near perfect aim I was almost the best at what I was trained to do.”
“Almost?” She smiled slightly but it was sad smile.
“To be a perfect assassin you have to feel nothing, no attachments. I never gave up on my emotions; I never accepted anything that had to do with the leaf. It drove them mad but I was the best they had and they weren’t willing to give that up.” I didn’t bother asking what she meant by they’ I honestly didn’t care. She had just confessed to a large part of her life. I noticed her stop then and her eyes glanced through the forest.
“Everyone get down!” She pushed me down and ran forward just as blade came flying towards us.
“Rin!” She pushed the others into each other and jumped up last minute barely clearing the blade as she landed in a slight crouching position.
“Impressive” I got to my feet and was at her side a second later as her eyes looked up to a familiar man standing on the handle of the previously thrown blade. I noticed Rin tense.
“Zabuza Momochi.” He chuckled as he looked down at her.
“Well if it isn’t my little apprentice Rin Uchiha. My, my look how much you’ve grown.” I glanced down at Rin and she sighed as she glanced at me.
"Did I fail to mention that I was his apprentice for about a year” I sighed shaking my head slightly as I returned my gaze to him. I’d have to question her later but for now we might have the advantag. I put my hand out as Naruto ran forward.
“Hey what gives?”
“He’s not like those other ninja; he’s on a whole other level. If he’s my opponent then I’ll need this.” I could feel there gazes on me as I put my hand to my headband.
“Kakashi of the sharingan eye am I right? It’s too bad but you’ll have to hand over the old man.”
“Now quick monji formation! Protect the bridge builder and stay out of this fight! I taught you team work not it’s time to use it!” I lifted my headband opening my eyes.
“Looks like I get to see the Sharingan in action after all.”
“It’s not the only one you’re going to see.” I held my hand stopping Rin and felt her gaze on me.
“Kakashi what the…”
“We’ll save you’re skill for last resort. A student shouldn’t protect their sensei.”
“But I can fight with you.” I chuckled slightly and shook my head.
“I understand now why you told me you were used to working alone. I’d probably get in your way but for now stand down and protect Tazuna.” I heard her sigh and I knew she was reluctant to but she fell back with the others.
