It is gone
Once again
It always seems
To slip away
No matter how tightly
I hold on
It always seems to escape
Maybe I will keep it one day
But that day is not today
And it is not tomorrow
Somewhere in the future it may be
But I must not dwell
In the past
For that only causes pain
Pain that I do not need
Pain that will discourage me
And make me fall
But today I will stand
With my head held high
Until the day hope returns
