VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE STORY*
While reading this book, I hope that all of you will be respectful and sensitive towards the theme of the story - that is physical and sexual violence and its resulting trauma. I feel it is important to request that moving through this story, you are not rude, dismissive, insensitive, disrespectful, or wilfully ignorant about the trauma that is caused by physical and sexual violence. Please remember that trauma, anxiety, stress, depression all manifest in us in different ways and just because it is not something you yourself have experienced, does not mean that it is invalid or should be dismissed as 'stupid' or 'idiotic'.
I have written my characters in a way that display trauma, anxiety, stress etc manifesting in different ways, that may not seem obvious or that are not highlighted in mainstream media. I have written my characters in a way that signal different coping mechanisms and strategies, and how some of these coping mechanisms may be maladaptive - but that too is because of how trauma is processed by an individual and how it manifests within them.
So, please refrain from calling my characters stupid, dumb, pathetic, or weak when they behave in a certain way as a result of their trauma - because art imitates life, and there are many out there who resonate with these characters and how they cope. So, reading negative comments about their coping mechanisms would have a detrimental effect on these readers. Please try to be trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive, not just while reading this story but also when walking out into the world.
And finally, I started writing this book (FFAI) when I was 16 and wrote majority of it (up until chapter 24) when I was around that age - so, please make allowances for any cringe-y writing lol. I have grown as a writer and I hope that is evident in chapter 25 onwards and as well as in Looking For Trouble (book 2 in this duology). My writing gets less embarrassing lol - so give it a chance!
For those of you still willing to read the story, here. *hands you a bowl of popcorn* Enjoy.
