It means emotional. I mean, come on. You don't need to classify those who go through a horrible everyday life, self-harm, or have a search history full of: depressing quotes, self-harm quotes, depression hotline, easy ways to kill yourself, as "emo."

Middle school. It's the worst time for kids and teens. Puberty, harder classes, but worst of all... depression. But what really irks me, is when people have no gosh dang clue what people who are depressed go through, make fun of them anyway.

"I'm emo," some idiotic "popular" 8th grader says as he slaps a rubber band against his wrist and a red mark is tattooed into his skin.

Yeah. That actually happened. Really? You think that's what we go through? Ha. Ha. Haha. You're funny. Why the heck would you even think that?

You don't even know. So why not play the tape through? Why not think about what you say before you say it.

Just because some stupid label puts us into some cliché category, doesn't mean we are fake. Doesn't mean we're the selfish, suicidal humans you think we are.

It means we've gone through more than you. We're not "emo." We're sad.

We.

Are.

Sad.
