Chapter 5 - The meeting.

Jong Kook's POV

It was late at night and I was sitting in front of my table, staring at my phone, my mind was thinking about what I've read online just now. Just then, I felt someone patting my shoulder. I turned my head and saw my mum standing beside me.

"Eo, eomma." I said.

"Jong Kook ah, it's late, why aren't you asleep yet?" My mum asked.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was just searching for some information about a medicine."

"Medicine? Why? Are you sick? Kwaenchana?" My mum asked worriedly.

"Aniya, it's my friend. I saw him eating that medicine but he said that it was a vitamin. I thought something was wrong so I decided to search for it online."

"Good thing that you're ok. Alright, don't sleep too late ya." My mum said as she patted my shoulder again.

"Ne, good night eomma."

"Good night."

My mum closed the door and I put my phone on the table. I stood up and turned off the lights. I lied on my bed while staring at the ceiling and thought about the information that I've found just now.

"The medicine is used to cure or slow down the cancer cells to spread..."

I sat up from my bed immediately and thought, "Seolma...Jae Suk hyung...has cancer?! What?! This can't be happening!"

I stood up from my bed and took my phone up. I looked at it and hesitated, should I call him out tomorrow? I looked at it for a long time, and dialed his number.

"Yeoboseyo? Jae Suk hyung, are you free tomorrow?"

[Skip, the next day, in a cafe.]

I waited for Jae Suk hyung nervously, it's the first time I felt nervous when I meet him as we had knew each other for a long time, that's weird. After waiting for a while, Jae Suk hyung came and I waved at him. He nodded and came to my seat.

"Sorry I'm late, there's a huge traffic jam on the way." Jae Suk hyung said as he sat down.

"It's ok." I said.

"So...why did you ask me out today?" Jae Suk hyung asked.

I lifted my head up and looked into his eyes. I said, "Hyung, I hope that you'll be honest with me."

"Huh? What are you talking about?" He asked,

I took out my phone and showed him about the information that I've found last night. When he saw that, he started to feel nervous and he looked away.

"Yah, why are you showing this to me?" He said nervously.

"Hyung, I know you were lying. What happened actually? Why were you eating that medicine during filming?" I asked.

"I...It's none of your business! Why would you bother about me so much?!" Jae Suk hyung suddenly burst out into anger.

"I'm not bothering you, I'm just worried about you!" I raised my voice by a little.

"I don't need your..."

Just then, before Jae Suk hyung could finish his words, his head started to ache. He held his head with both of his hands. I stood up and went beside him.

"Hyung! Kwaenchana?!" I asked nervously.

"My...medicine..." He said.

"Where is it?"

"In the...bag..."

I quickly searched his bag and found a bottle of medicine. I took 2 pills out and passed it to him. He swallowed the pills and I gave him a cup of water. His headache slowly went away after he ate the medicine. We sighed in relief cause no one saw it [They were in a VIP room(is there even such thing in a cafe?)].

"Hyung, tell me, what happened? Is there anything wrong with your health?" I asked again.

Jae Suk hyung just sighed and wiped his sweat on the forehead. In the end, he said, "Ok, looks like I can't keep the secret from you anymore."

I looked at him and waited for him to answer. He hesitated for a while and finally said, "2 weeks ago, I went to the doctor for a checkup and I found out that...I had leukaemia. And...it's in the last stage already."

I looked at him, feeling really shocked with the news. I looked down, trying to hold back my tears. I don't know why I suddenly felt emotional, maybe...it's because I've been friends with Jae Suk hyung for a long time?

We kept quiet for a while, I finally broke the silence and said, "Jinjja yo?"

"Ne."

I lifted my head up with my red eyes. I looked away and wiped my tears. I smiled bitterly and said, "Why didn't you tell it to us? We're a family, you know?!"

"I know, but...I'm trying to protect all of you. I'm afraid that it might affect everyone's mood and career. I really don't want to be their burden, Kook Jong. Do you understand?"

"Ne." I nodded.

Jae Suk hyung sat up and said, "Kook Jong ah, I really hope that you can keep this secret from everyone, especially our Kwang Soo. I really don't want him get hurt by the truth..."

"Hyung..." I said.

"Kook Jong ah, jebal." He said.

I thought of it for a while and finally nodded.

"Kook Jong ah, gomawo."

I smiled bitterly and just nodded.

Ok, a YooKook chapter finally. I really love this duo even though they kept arguing in almost every episode of Running Man. I really want to see YooKookSoo in a team! Well, I hope Kwang Soo won't be their victim when they start to argue😅. Ok, sorry for another sad chapter, again...I really hope I could do more cheerful scenes for the next chapter.
