Short Stories

One day as I was walking
In my house, all by myself
No books I want to read but
No space left on my shelf

I thought of long ago
When we were both happy
How could I have been so blind
How did I not see?

I thought,
I'll write a little book of short stories
Show it to the world and maybe they'll see
That the way that you treat others
Is not how it's supposed to be
Then maybe I
Can live peacefully

You were always playing games
Messing with my mind
I though you meant no harm but
The day came and I realized

You don't know how to read a girl like me
Think you know it all but inside I'm just crying
Maybe I'll show it to you
Maybe not
But then you'll never learn

What if
I write it in a book of short stories
Show it to the world and maybe they'll see
That the way that they treat others
Is not how it's supposed to be

then maybe you'll remember me

A hundred years, a thousand
Since the day that we first met
Your smile, it outshone the sun
That's a day I don't regret

And whoever's coming after me
I know she will fall hard too
For your eyes, your laugh, your witty jokes
But she won't see the real you

The girls, for sure, will fall for you
For your gentle touch, your smile
But the time it'll take for you to change
Well I'm sure it will be quite a while

The time that will pass by
Before you realize what you have
Is longer than the time
That they will give you 'one more chance'

But if I
write it in a book of short stories
Show it to the world, and maybe they'll see
That sometimes being honest is all you need

Maybe someone will like it,
And another will too
Maybe it'll be good enough
To someday get to you

You see this
tiny little book of short stories
Without my name, but with my glory
Can get to you too, and change your story

So someday when you're far from me
I'll have come so far and our love is behind me
You'll read the little book of short stories
And maybe next time you love,
You won't have to be sorry
