A Pilgrim's Poem

Strange how people pass
And not stop to stare;
Because I do.

I bite back my grin
As she laughs at the sky;
Try not to lose myself
As she pretends to fly.

Her hair whips back and forth,
But it does not hide her smile
Nothing can do that,
It's enough to make life worthwhile.

Her eyes are twin stars
I freeze when they touch mine
And I cannot help but wish
That they'd linger longer each time.

But it is not to be
Fate made sure of that,
For by the 'morrow's dawn
It'll be time to tip my hat

And say farewell.
