Why Can't I Look Like Her?

Why can't I fly like the eagle,
With his great brown wings
And his proud white head?
Why can't I fly like him?

Why can’t I glide like the swan,
With her enchanting eyes
And her arched snowy neck?
Why can't I glide like her?

Why can't I twinkle like the stars above,
With their cold, pure beauty
And their silver crowns?
Why can't I twinkle like them?

Why can't I roar like the flame,
With its brave red glare
And its determined heat?
Why can't I roar like it?

And why can't I look like that girl
With the long, bronze legs
And the perfectly bridged nose?
Why can't I look like her?

Why aren't I someone else,
Why aren't I something else?
And then I remember:
It's because I'm me.

Inspired by one of the last things Sophie said in The School for Good and Evil: The Last Ever After. If you haven't read that series (written by the genius storyteller Soman Chainani), I suggest that you do. It's just.... GAH!!!
