Saki's P.O.V.

"Gon! Saki!"

Kurapika's footsteps vibrated through the soft ground that my head lay against.

Gon's head came into my vision, his face was contorted with worry.

"What happened Saki-chan? I heard screaming! Are you okay?!" He rushed, hastily checking me for injuries.

Kurapika joined him, tentatively hoisting me to my feet.

As soon as weight bore down on my legs they crumpled with exhaustion.

"I-I'm too weak to stand... Sorry.
Please leave me here and head to the next exam site, you can still make it..."

Now that I was keeping the steam inside of my body, I wasn't growing any weaker.
But I wasn't getting stronger any faster, and I'd already lost a lot of... Whatever that was.

Kurapika and Gon shared a look, doubt never crossing their features.

Without a word, Kurapika and Gon carefully lifted me onto Kurapika's back.

"H-hey! Don't! You won't be able to make it back with me slowing you down!" I pleaded.

Kurapika turned his head, smiling.
"We would never leave a friend behind!"

They started running and all of a sudden I wanted to cry.
I'd never had... Friends before...

As the tears slid past my eyelids, I buried my face in his hair.

"Thank you..." I whispered.

I felt him shudder from my cold nose brushing against his neck and started giggling.

"W-what are you laughing at Saki-chan?"

I grinned evilly at him before licking his neck.

"Uwa!"

He flinched and dropped me onto my backside but I was laughing too hard to be bothered.

"What happened?" Gon questioned innocently.

Kurapika was a blushing mess so I answered for him.

"Um... Some water dripped on his neck...?" I supplied with a smirk.

Gon's face relaxed in understanding then he furrowed his brows and glared towards Kurapika.

"You have to be careful not to drop Saki-chan!" He said defiantly.

He harrumphed before strolling over to me and lifting me easily onto his smaller back.

"I'll do it myself!" He said with his nose in the air.

Then, strangely, he took a deep breath through his nose.

"This way!"

He started running once more in a different direction.

A scolded Kurapika followed soon after.
"How can you be so sure?" He queried between pants.

"Leorio's cologne has an unusual scent," he said with steady breaths.
"So it's easy to detect even several kilometres away."
