Chapter 34: Custody

The trial

"Are you nervous?" Nabi asked.

With a shaky hands, I nodded. Nabi grabbed my hand and placed it at each side, colliding it with my cheeks with the right amount of pain to wake me up out of this nervousness. It feels like I could only hear my own heartbeat and heavy breathing. I'm so scared and it's eating me whole. Takot na baka konting mali lang, wala ng pagasa pang makuha ko si Jesper. No. I can't handle that!

"Hell, I am." I retorted, "Nabi, nung nasa elevator tayo. Bakit mo nasabi sa akin na magingat ako kay Mrs. Park?" I asked him.

"I haven't told you about it but my Dad's mom is a 'victim of rape' by the late head of the Park Group of Companies. Si Appa ang bunga nun. Dad is demanding for his part in the company," he bowed his head, scratching the back of his head. He's being hesistant to continue the conversation and when I was about to speak, he continued in such low voice. "Actually, wala akong alam masyado sa naging problema, Baekhyun."

"Pero bakit-" he cut me off.

"When Dad was arrested, he told me to stay away from the Park family at lalong lalo na kay Mrs. Park. So right then, alam kong may kinalaman si Mrs. Park at sinet up lang si Appa sa kidnapan noon. Maybe she's against giving a certain percentage of stocks to Appa. She's cruel." he stated.

"Ang greedy nila. Magina nga talaga sila nung retarded na Namhyun na yun. Hah. Money, influence and power lang naman ang gusto nila. Nadamay pa ang inosente at ang pamilya ko. Wala na talaga, Nabi."

"Relax." Nabi said.

"Malanta sana talong nya!"

Nabi chuckled.

"He's just blinded." Nabi said, "Love is not just about happiness. It also comes with a lot of pain and sacrifices. It's like a battle. When you love, you should be prepared. There's no such thing as loving without hurting. Only when you get hurt is when you will realize how much you love that person. It's just 'beautiful' how twisted love is, that no one truly understands."

"But it's been too long since Chanyeol lost his way. Now I need to catch the last trip," Inhaling one lungful of air, I bowed my head and stared at my slender fingers, Chanyeol used to suck and touch so much. "With or without him. I'm only fighting for Jesper and no longer for him. I'm already tired"

"It's been two years, why file a case now, Mr. Byun?" Humigpit ang kapit ko sa pants ko. "Maaari ko bang itanong kung meron ulit nangyari sa inyo pagkatapos nun?" I glanced at Nabi, he's saying something to the judge but the judge stop him. Dahil sa kaba ko parang wala akong narinig sa sinabi nila.
