Nate

"What's wrong?" Jake asked, as I walked in.

"I don't really know," I answered. "Everything was fine, then Lia suddenly felt ill," I explained. "She's resting now."

"You knocked her up already?" Dave teased.

Shit. Did I? No but she's on the pill.

"Oh shit. You did didn't you?" Allan accused.

"No... I don't think so."

I should be terrified at the thought of being a father, but I felt the exact opposite. The thought of my child growing inside her filled me with joy and excitement. It may not be the right time considering what's happening, but I'm happy as fuck if she is carrying our child.

"You don't think so? Why don't you ask her?"

"I will," I said.

Is that what it is? Maybe she's scared to tell me.

A smile played in my lips.

I'll show her that she has nothing to fear.

A couple hours later, I decided to check on Lia to make sure she's okay and to assure her that everything will be okay.

I slowly opened the door and frowned.

The bed is empty.

"Lia?" I called out her name.

No answer.

I frowned and walked inside the room.

"Lia?" I tried again.

Still. No answer.

I checked the bathroom and she wasn't in there.

Fuck.

"Lia?" I called out her name, panic starting to rise inside of me.

"Fuck. Jake!" I yelled.

Hurried steps sounded.

"What?"

"She's not here. She's gone," I said.

"What?"

Fuck.

"She climbed out the fucking window," I said.

"Fuck. Let's split up and find her."

"Wait. Call her cell," Allan said.

I pulled out my phone and dialled Lia's cell.

She picked up on the third ring.

"Sunshine! Oh thank god. Where are you?" I asked.

"Nate. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, but I can't do this. I can't be with you," she said.

I frowned. "Wait. What?" I asked incredulously.

"Nate, I'm going back home."

"Wait. What? You can't! Carlos and his men.... Lia... Come back let's talk about this," I pleaded with her.

"We have nothing else to talk about Nate. I can't just pretend that things will be okay," she said. "The truth is I don't want to pretend anymore. I don't want to continue using you either. You've been so kind to me," she said.

What the hell is she saying?

"Lia. What are you saying?"

"Nate I'm sorry, but I don't love you. Not in the way you want me to. I'm sorry I lied to you," she said.
