"So, I'll call you later okay?" Tyler smiled, letting go of my hand as we were about to depart in the airport.

I nodded, leaning in to catch his lips in a slight kiss before pulling back and walking out of the door. I waved at him as he walked to his dad's truck and I went to my mom's car. We were obviously old enough to drive but it was easier than taking a cab because we didn't have our cars.

"Y/N! It's so good to see you again!" My mother squealed when I closed the car door, "How was your trip, darling?"

After the break up I moved back in with my parents. I'd planned to get out as soon as possible and was looking at apartments before PAX, but I wasn't sure how that was going to go now.

"It was good, Mom," I smiled, clicking the seat belt in place.

She pulled me in for an awkward side hug, "Ugh, I missed you so much! You'll have to tell me everything at dinner!"

I shook my head and agreed with a grin, although I didn't plan on telling her everything.

"Oh," she said randomly as we drove home, her tone changing slightly, "Was that Tyler I saw you with coming out of the building?"

"Tyler?" I squeaked, "Um, yeah."

"Why were you walking with him? Don't you hate that douche head?"

I held back a laugh at her weird insult, "Um, heh, well we had the same flight and he's friends with my friends-"

"The youtube friends?"

"Yeah," I answered, "We all went to PAX together."

"So you had to hang around Tyler? How bad was that?"

"It wasn't bad, Mom," I defended, a small smile creeping on my face "It was actually nice."

She rolled her eyes, "Oh my gosh, (Y/N). Don't tell me you're thinking about taking him back."

"I-" I cut myself off. What was I going to say? My mom hated him. Maybe I should've too but I didn't. "What if I was?"

She looked the me incredulously, "Did something happen between you two during the trip?"

I moved uncomfortably around my seat, "Why're you interrogating me?"

"I'm not interrogating you, honey," her voice softened, "I just don't want you to get hurt like that ever again."

"I won't," I assured her, "I hurt so much because I really cared about him. I've talked to him and he regrets everything. He misses me more than I miss him."

She scoffed, "That's hard to believe."

"Believe it, it's true."

"Then why did he break up with you in the first place, (Y/N)?"

"He was scared," I explained, my voice having a high pitched edge to it, "He actually um..."

"He what?"

"He'd bought an engagement ring-"

She cut me off, "A what!?"

"An engagement ring," I repeated, my mind flashing back to the night he showed me it, "He said that he broke up with me because he didn't want to mess us up further down the road and hurt me worse."

"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

"I know," I sighed, "but that's what he thought."

"He's an idiot then."

"Mom!" I scolded, "Stop. Just because he messed up before doesn't mean he's going to again. Don't you think people deserve second chances?"

Mom pursed her lips and gripped the stirring wheel tighter. We were almost to the house by this point. "I'm only thinking about what's best for you, hon."

"I know," I told her, "so am I."

She sighed, turning to me because we'd reached the house, "It's your life. You choose who you want to be with and I'll be here to support you-"

"Thank you, Mom. I-"

"-but, you have to tell your father."

I cringed at the thought. He had very strong feelings toward Tyler. After everything he hated him more than anyone else and he was not going to take to this lightly. "I will, don't worry."

"Alright," she breathed, smiling again, "Let's get inside okay?"

"Okay," I replied, following her lead out of the car and inside the house. My dad was watching TV in the living room with his feet propped up on the table.

"Hey, dad," I greeted him.

He turned and his face lit up with a smile, "Hey sweetheart, how was your trip?"

"It was good, really good."

"Did you get to do all your video game stuff and see your friends?"

"Of course," I laughed. I bit my lip and sat next to him, "I saw Tyler there. We had the same flight."

His expression fell, "Please tell me you told him to piss off while you were there."

"Um," I stalled, "something like that."

"That's my girl," my dad said proudly, wrapping his arm around me, "No one needs that asshole anyways."

"Mhm," I hummed anxiously. Mom sent me a look but I looked away and payed attention to the stupid things Dad was saying about Tyler. This was not going to be easy.
