to love you is to know you—
an endless probing of who you are
to love you is to hear you
your voice i hear from afar
to love you is to see you
by means of these red, blind eyes
to love you is to hold you
only these hands could suffice
to love you is to feel you
in ways i couldn't understand
why to love you is to have you
spoiled just to reprimand
to love you is to hate you
wish i've known from the start
that to love you is to leave you
and the silly reason we part
