Chapter 16

“Last night was fun,” James whispered seductively in my ear. I gasped and quickly turned around to face him. He looked so sexy in his causal wear. He was wearing dark blue shorts with a plain white t-shirt.

“James not here,” I whispered and look around frantically to see if anyone heard. “And you shouldn’t be standing so close to me, people will get the wrong idea.” We were at the barbecue which started about an hour ago and now Jessica’s garden and pool area was full. I’ve looked out for Kyle my ex but haven’t seen. Neither have I see Brittney but I was happy with that. 

“What wrong idea? That were sleeping together because that’s the right idea if you ask me,” he said smirking. I hit on his arm but couldn’t stop the smile that spread across my face.

“You look sexy by the way,” James said flirtatiously. I was wearing a sleeveless white dress that reached mid-thigh and it had some silver sequences near the chest area. I was wearing silver shoes as well as silver accessories.

“Oh really?” I asked flirtatiously too.

“Yeah, very, very sexy,” he says and I resisted the urge to blush.

“Why thank you, vice versa.”

“Oh, so you think I’m sexy?” he asked smirk back on his face.

“Maybe, maybe not,” I say taunting.

“You’re such a tease Rose,” he states.

“But you love it don’t you James?” I ask looking at him for his reaction.

“I’m afraid I do. I just can’t resist your charm.” A couple passed by us and we greeted them with smiles and warm hellos as they passed. James continued to shamelessly flirt with me whilst I tried my best not to laugh. I was so caught up with James that I didn’t realise a someone come up behind us.

“Rose?” I flip my head round and found myself face to face with Kyle. He looked even hotter than before. He was topless and wearing army shorts that gave him a macho edge. I was surprised to realise that I was happy to see him.

“Kyle,” I cried happily and gave leaned forward to give him a hug. He seemed surprised but hugged me back.

“You look beautiful Rose,” he said sincerely. I smile at this.

“Thanks, you don’t look bad yourself,” I say with a smirk. There’s silence with us just looking at each other before James coughed. Shit, I forgot he was there.

“Kyle this is James, James Kyle,” I said pointing to them as I said their name. They shock hands mumbling hey’s and hi’s. I realised that James had moved closer to me. I looked up at his face and he looked, well jealous. Note to self-ask him about it later.

“James!” a voice called from the distance. It was the twins.

“James you promised you would play with us,” they cooed. I laughed as realisation crossed James’s face.

“Please excuse me Rose, Kyle, it seems I’m needed elsewhere.” I smiled as the twins pulled James along. After a few seconds I turned back to Kyle.

“Would you be so kind as to walk with me?” he asked holding out his arm. I placed mine through his.

“I will,” I said smiling and we began walking through Jessica’s garden.

“So how are you Rose?” Kyle asked after a while.

“I’m great; I have great job, nice home and friends. All I’ve ever really wanted.”

“That’s good, I’m glad you’re happy.” He said. I looked up but he wasn’t looking at me instead he was looking straight with a faraway expression on his face.
