The doors of the elevator open and I walk out towards the reception. With I smile on my face, I greet Kat.
“Morning Kat. Is James in?” I ask trying to keep my voice light. She gives me a knowing look.
“Not yet but he should be here any minute now.” I nod and walk to my office. I put down my things and turn on my computer. I have an email from Chantelle, Stephanie and Jessica. All in which I haven’t seen for a long while. After replying to them and promising to meet up with Stephanie and Chantelle soon, I get down to some work. There isn’t a lot to do as I usually stay back late and do lots of work whilst I wait for James. The phone rings constantly, like it did everyday with people on the other line eager to meet with James and talk business. The phone rings after 5 minutes of no ringing and it shows that it was a call from the reception. I pick it up already knowing it was Kat. “Hi Kat, what’s up?” I ask.
“Come to the reception right now!” she whisper- shouts into the phone causing me to groan.
“I’m working right now,” I moan.
“Trust me; you want to come to the reception.” I place down the phone and walk towards the reception with newly curiosity. I wonder what’s up. As soon as I turn left, I take in the tall masculine body that belonged to no one other than Philip Franklin. Unconsciously, a smile spreads across my face as I stop a few steps away from him but I quickly remove it.
“Mr Franklin, what can I do for you? You don’t have a meeting with Mr Smith do you?” I ask with an innocent expression. I knew he didn’t because I organise James’s schedule.
“No I don’t,” he confirmed with a knowing expression.
“Well, sorry but Mr Smith hasn’t arrived yet.”
“Well that’s fine because I didn’t come here to see James,” he states staring me straight in the eye. I give a small smile before replying.
“Then I guess you better come to my office than.” I turn around and head back to my office, not waiting to make sure that he was following. I take a seat on my chair behind the desk and use my hand to gesture that he should sit on the chair opposite. He does so and I take the chance to look him over. I have to admit-he is sexy. His broad shoulders and tall frame worked well with the dark, mysterious look he was giving off. His bye eyes looked so electrifying with his dark chocolate hair. Dreamy!
“Well recently, a month from today to be exact, I was rejected by this woman,” he says with a fake sad expression. I smile knowing he was talking about since I rejected him a week from today.
“Oh, poor you! Who would do such a thing?” I say playing along. He pretends to wipe away a tear causing me to give a short laugh.
“Not many, I can tell you that but she did.” He gives a sigh looking glum.
“Was she that much of a catch?” I ask innocently. He gives me a wicked grin.
“Definitely. Nice long, sexy legs too. Model quality.” I give a little giggle.
“You can’t beat Model quality,” I agree tilting my head slightly. He looks me up and down, admiring my legs in particular. I giggle again and he smiles at me. He really didn’t seem like the same guy as before. He seems so much more down to earth and funny. I guess I judged him to fast.
As my laughter dies down my face becomes more serious.
“You know, having spoken to you now, I feel like I judged you wrongly and I apologize.” He smirks which didn’t seem to get me annoyed as I thought it would. He would be great for Kat…
“So does this mean you’ll go out with me?” He asks with a hint of hopefulness in his voice.
“No but, I know someone who’ll be great for you.” His smile slips away.
“The reason why I won’t go out is because I’m already in a serious relationship.” His eyes turned accusingly.
“Why didn’t you just say so,” he says with disbelief.
“Because,” I start, “Your ego needed to be brought down a peg or two. Anyway the receptionist you just met is a good friend of mine. Her name's Kat and I think you two would really hit it off. She just got out of a relationship and you’re just what she needs. A distraction.” A sexy one too.
“You’re unbelievable, you know that?” I give him my puppy eyes and he sighs deeply. “Fine!” he states. I begin to cheer and start going around my desk to give him a gigantic hug. “But it’s only because I thought she was hot.” I smile as I hug him but it soon falls when I see that James was looking at our exchange. His eyes were cold and expressionless. Sensing the change in the atmosphere, Philip turns around and sees James. I pull away and he stands up walking towards James in the door way.
“Alright James?” he says giving him a manly hug. He returns it making his expression warm and friendly.
“Yes, you?” he asks not even hinting anger.
“I’m fine. I was just talking to Rose but I’m done now. I’ll leave her to get back to work. Bye,” he says nodding towards me before leaving the room.
After he’s gone, James expression returns to cold and he shuts my office door behind him.
“I think we need to talk.”
That’s all for this chapter. Rose will find out about Isabelle so that's something to look forward to. I feel that the story is dragging on so I’ll try to speed it up a bit. I’m editing at the moment and making a big change by no longer making the story in pass tense but in present. Thanks for your amazing comments. They really motivate me to write more. I’ll upload in two weeks, maybe less. Thanks for your support.
