It would be easy to think that the Winters had been burgled. None of the draws in the wardrobe were closed and clothes thrown about the room, floor and cupboards as if everything had been emptied in a search. Well, that was what was happening as Tiffany and May looked through every single thing she had to wear in preparation for the party they would be going to later on that night.
Since the threat from the hunters appeared to have weakened after the shifters attack, Braydon had pack meeting about what to do next after dinner. With him gone, May had managed to convince her mother that going to a party and being a normal teenager wasn't going to hurt anyone. She'd sworn on her life that she wouldn't drink and come midnight, Miranda had every right to do as she wanted if May wasn't waiting to be picked up. Threats of showing baby photos to school friends, lifelong enslavement and having to wash dishes by hand rather than use the dishwasher, plus being grounded for just as long, had May not willing to break her mother's rules.
"Okay, I'm done." Tiffany announced, collapsing on the pile of dresses that hid the bed.
"Good. Help me clean up now!" May nervously checked the door, knowing her parents would freak at the state of her room. She didn't want to be grounded before she even managed to go out.
Sure enough the pair worked together and managed to get the bulk of things put away; whatever was missed was simply shoved behind the closed doors of the wardrobe. Checking the time, it wouldn't be long before Josh turned up and May quickly put her hair up into a messy bun that would be fine for later on too. She kept her makeup simple, not wanting to remind her Dad they were going to be going out later incase he changed his mind. It had been a week long argument with him that May didn't doubt she would win yet her mother had proved to be harder to convince which did surprise her.
"May, your friend has arrived!" Miranda called up the stairs. Seconds later, the thud of footsteps rushed down the stairs and Miranda kept Braydon in the kitchen with her as May let Josh in. "Be nice! He's a good kid."
"That is dating our daughter." Braydon mumbled.
"I don't remember you being this way about Caleb." She teased.
"That was different."
"Don't see how." Miranda challenged and Braydon kept his mouth shut.
"Hello Mrs. Winters." Josh soon greeted nervously, and with a final warning to her husband, Miranda smiled as she turned around.
"Josh, lovely to see you again and please, Miranda is fine. I don't think you've met Braydon?" Miranda effortly moved between the pair, acting like a buffer as Josh politely offered his hand.
"It's Mr. Winters." He grumbled, before Miranda not so subtly elbowed him. "I mean Braydon is fine."
May rolled her eyes. "Let me show you Dad's collection."
"My what?" Braydon asked quickly.
"Great idea. I'll call when dinner is ready. " Miranda kept Braydon where he was as May dragged Josh towards the main living room.
"He better not touch anything."
"Maybe you should go supervise."
Tiffany walked in then, grabbing three cans of soft drink from the fridge. "She's right Braydon, who knows what they'll get up to in there. May was talking about those comics you keep in that file."
"I forgot how funny you are." Braydon huffed, yet looked towards the doorway nervously as Tiffany vanished as quickly as she had come.
"He's just like you were at that age. Well, maybe not that age, but you know what I mean. Go get to know him." Miranda encouraged.
