Chapter 35: Sole Dominance

Hux PoV

For a time, I did really not talk to anyone. I used FN-2187 to relay my orders for about a week after Kylo had flown off to find his destiny. In that week, I cleared out the room we had shared, discarded his clothing, the mask of Vader he had held so dead, and all of Kylo's other belongings. If I kept them around, I would only become more despondent. I kept only one thing to remember Kylo, the holoimage we had from our wedding on Naboo. We were dressed in nice, civilian clothing in front of a lake. His arm was around me, and he was kissing my cheek.

I wished I could go back to that day. A few months ago, I would have never imagined it ending like this, but it still had. I missed him more than I could even express. It hurt to know that he thought that the goal we had worked so hard for was for naught. I would prove him wrong. I had to. It might be the only way I could bring him back

The first thing I did upon emerging from my self imposed isolation was to issue an order for the fleet to assemble. We were heading to the city planet of Coruscant. Its inhabitants would be the first to get to choose between the First Order and death. If they chose to stand with us, they would be left to conduct life as normal. If they chose to be against us, we would mercilessly gun them down.

I hoped that Coruscant would be an easy but to crack, but I doubted it. The planet was ruled by strongly pro Republic sentiment. Perhaps I needed an assassin. Or I could just do it myself and spare the cost.

It all depended on if they surrendered. There were five planets I needed to swear fealty to the First Order, than I would be able to crown myself emperor. I kept that thought in mind. It would be worth it in the end. I just hoped I would find a new bedmate. I did not want to rule alone. I wanted friends, but now I had to be alone and accept and embrace it. It was better he was gone. He did not want to be there. I had to be compassionate. I loved him, after all.
