Chapter 56: To Kill or Not to Kill

Phasma PoV (WHOA A POV NOT KYLO OR HUX)

Why was I doing this? Ok. I was doing it for the money. But despite that, I had my doubts. I did not want to kill Kylo. For all that he was an annoying, temperamental boy, he did not deserve death. Or rather, he deserved death, but he did not deserve to be hunted down by his former husband. I knew that there had been bad blood between Kylo and Hux, but I had not known it had escalated to this level.

I wandered around the planet, looking for the rebel base. Suddenly, my com link beeped softly. I looked at the ID on the screen. It was anonymous. I was instantly wary. "Who is this?" I snapped into the link.

"You know who I am. I'm watching you right now, actually. Turn around at a ninety degree angle and look at the tree with grey bark and a hole about a foot from the bottom." It couldn't be... I turned and saw Kylo leaning against a tree, leveling a gun at me.

"We need to talk." He said confidently.

"I've been hired to kill you, not talk." I retorted. "Give me a good reason I should speak with you." I looked him over. He had lost weight, and he was more pale. His face had a look to it, almost haunted. The past few months had taken a toll on him. Yet I sensed a peace he had never seemed to have in the past.

"Hux is insane. He can't do this. I can't stand by and let him continue on his quest to dominate the Galaxy." Kylo looked distraught. "I love him, but he's turned into a monster. Have you read the reports of what he has done to those who dare to defy him? He thinks nothing of murder or torture. He has no shame, and will happily hurt whoever it takes to get his way. Do you really want him to lead?" He looked desperate, like this was a last effort. "I want to come with you, alive. I have a plan to dethrone him and perhaps get the man I love back."

"This is crazy, but for some reason, I'm still listening." I said coldly.

"I want you to take me back to Hux. The Resistance has a tracker on me right now. They'll know. My friend in the Resistance who knows of this plan will then proceed to offer a ransom amount for me, on the condition Hux handles it himself. Hux might be wary of a trap, but his ego will make him come down here. Then we ambush him and imprison him and hopefully bring him back." Kylo finished and looked at me hopefully. It was a ridiculous plan, but I lacked the heart to say so.

"Fine." I rolled my eyes. "I'll try to help. For the galaxy's  sake only. "
