I was, for all the galaxy's laws and ideas, dead. I had shattered my rib cage, broken my neck, and suffered massive amounts of burns from my crash and explosion on Tatooine.
Somehow, however, I was here, in an odd plane of sorts. Somewhere between life and death. I could feel the Force more strongly than ever before. I let it seep into me.
It was neither light or dark. I felt no alliance from this power. It was pure, unadulterated, unfettered, and without laws. It was the Force, the way it was meant to be.
"What is this?" I asked aloud from my disembodied spirit. "Where am I?"
"You are in the nether world. You are in the space between life and death where naught but the Force resides. As spirits powered by the Force, we can reside in this plane, and we use it to pass through the void." A voice answered me from behind. I turned around to see a man with white hair and a beard. He looked at me kindly.
"Are you... Ben Kenobi?" I asked. I had heard stories about him as a child.
"Yes, I am. I was the master of your grandfather. He is in this world as well, but I do not know his whereabouts. He might be traveling the mortal world, visiting those relatives he left behind, namely his..." Obi Wan stopped and looked at me sadly. "But he has no relatives left on the mortal plane to visit. You killed Luke and Leia. You cut them down in cold blood. You killed Han too. You've done much evil."
"I know. I'm sorry, Obi Wan. I wish I could atone for my crimes." I meant it. That's what I had been planning to do when I had left the first order.
"What would you say if I told you that you could come back? If you could survive this crash and keep on combating Hux and the regime of the First Order?" Obi Wan had a crafty gleam in his eye.
"How would you do something like that?" I asked suspiciously. It sounded too good to be true.
"It would have a cost. You would no longer be able to use your Force powers. But you would be alive again. You could atone for your wrongs." Obi Wan looked at me closely. "It is your choice and yours alone, Ben."
Not many people called me Ben, and it touched me a little bit that someone had told Obi Wan my name.
"I will do it. I can accomplish things without the Force. I am willing to sacrifice for the greater good. Bring me back."
"As you wish, Ben Solo. May the Force be with you." Suddenly, I could see my body again and I was falling through the whiteness of the plane and-
BOOM! I was laying on the hot sand of Tatooine, surrounded by the wreckage of my ship. I had my lightsaber and that was all. I stood up and cautiously turned on the saber. It still worked. That was good. I could still use this, even without the Force.
I sighed. It was time I got moving. I had been given a second chance. It was time to use it.
