The announcement ended and Nathan got up from his bed. He sat on the chair in front of Borgina and began typing a series of codes.

"Borgina, I need you to scan through the footage of all the surveillance cameras you can find. I want to know if any warship entered the colony." He stated, never taking his hands away from the keyboard.

It took a little less than five minutes for the results of the scan to come through. It was negative. There was no footage of an alien warship entering the colony at any time. The only ships seen entering the colony were MoonEx military ships but Borgina kept that part of the results to herself. They would only make Nathan ask questions she didn't want him to know the answers to. Not now, not ever.

"What did you find?" Nathan asked.

"Nothing. There was no footage of an alien warship from any of the cameras."

"I knew it." Nathan stated. "All this time I've been piecing things together and it never occurred to me what might be going on here."

"What do you mean?" Borgina asked.

"This is the reason they wanted us here." He replied.

For a moment there, Borgina thought he had actually figured it out. Once he continued speaking, she relaxed. He still didn't know the truth about their arrival on MoonEx and she was going to make sure it stayed that way.

"That warship wasn't spotted two days ago. The warships probably invaded the Earth and destroyed it. The reason we were rescued by the government was to give humanity a fighting chance like they said. We are capable of inventing the weapons they need to fight back." Nathan continued.

"You're probably right." Borgina replied.

The door opened before any of them could say anything else. Nurse Reese walked in with the usual smile on her face.

"Hey, Nathan." She greeted, placing the green box on the table and bringing out the syringe containing Nathan's shot.

"Nurse Reese. It's always a pleasure to see you." Nathan replied, taking his shirt off.

Nurse Reese dabbed the cotton wool in the liquid and wiped it against Nathan's left shoulder. She replaced the bottle to the box and placed her finger on Nathan's bare skin. That was something she had never done before and it caused Nathan to worry. It turned out he had every reason to.

"I knew you looked different as soon as I walked in." She stated.

"Um... how do you mean?" Nathan asked. He was clearly getting uncomfortable.

"I know the way your skin feels. It felt different when I touched you earlier. The fact that you can't feel this just gave you away." She replied. The smile she had before had disappeared from her face.

Borgina gave her the death glare. Sure she'd know how Nathan's skin felt. All she did was touch him in the guise of attending to him.

"What are you talking about?" Nathan asked.

He turned around instinctively to see Nurse Reese had made a small incision on the skin behind his arm. There was no blood. The cut only exposed the inner layers of his synthetic skin.
