Nathan returned to the weapon factory and continued work on his missile navigation system. His mind moved from one thought to another. As much as he wanted to accept the evidence provided by his spyware, he couldn't deny certain things still didn't add up. If Colonel Ford actually destroyed the planet, how did he do it?
That was a question that was neither answered by available evidence nor logical reasoning. There was no single device capable of destroying the entire planet at the time the carnage occurred. He had to be missing something. The only problem was the fact that he had no idea what it was that he was missing.
There was something else that persisted in his thoughts. It was something that happened when Nurse Reese came over to his apartment for his evening shot. After emptying the contents of the syringe in his sink like she normally did, she asked him to walk with her around the living area. He remembered Borgina's response like it had just been said.
"The Oxygen level outside is insufficient to support your flirtatious walk. You should stay in here."
For starters, there was nothing flirtatious about Nurse Reese's request. She probably needed company and asked him to come along. However, Borgina's comment was not the only reason for Nathan's concern. Insufficient was hardly the right term to describe the Oxygen level outside. It was completely absent, forcing Nathan to go back inside.
That was something out of the ordinary. The Oxygen level outside was normally insufficient but never absent.
"Is it just a coincidence that the Oxygen level reduced drastically twice when Borgina was upset?"
Nathan didn't know what to think. He was sure Colonel Ford could control virtually everything on MoonEx. There was a possibility he turned the Oxygen off at that time. Perhaps they were running out of resources and the Colonel decided to rationalize.
Thinking about the Colonel made Nathan realize something he had never bothered with before. Where was Colonel Ford? He had never physically seen the guy. All he had to go on were the video clips of his announcements. Something wasn't right.
He made a mental note to ask Borgina for the location of the Colonel's apartment once he got back.
