◈ ━━━━━━━ ⸙ ━━━━━━━ ◈

YOU WERE ON MY MIND THAT FATEFUL DAY.
The day my mother cast me away.
Away from civilization, for I was a threat.
And to be destroyed, my time was set.

With only my wits and a single lock pick,
I escaped the hell
filled with nothing but-

◈ ━━━━━━━ ⸙ ━━━━━━━ ◈

"Lev, what rhymes with lock pick?" I ask, nibbling shamelessly on the top of my pencil.
"I don't know, ask Google or something." She said in a melancholy tone. I sigh at her response, shutting my book closed and resting it on my bedside table. I must be really bad at poetry if I can't even make up rhymes as simple as Jack and Jill or Twinkle Twinkle.

Flopping face first onto the sheets of my bed, I groan due to frustration. My mind was clouded with nothing but getting this assignment done and over with, yet I'm already at the stages where I'd fail at any minor tests, mock tests or real exams I take in the near future.

"Stop whining like a baby Lu, get out of bed and explore for once. Baka." I hear my roommate, Levy, mumble. Shit.
Reluctantly rising from my tomb (which I call my bed), I quickly tie my hair back into a messy ponytail and pull on some blue, worn down jeans and a baggy pink hoodie.
Where is my camera?
"Lev, have you seen my camera? I can't find it anywhere- oh. Found it." Out of the corner of my eye, I see her roll her eyes and smile sheepishly.
"Next time, use your eyes and not your mouth, Lu-chan." and with that, I smiled goofily at her and, exit our dorm room and head outside to take some photographs. Yes, photographs. I'm currently doing a photography course and I wanted my theme to be something aesthetic; something that I've always loved.
Soon enough, I found myself in a cafe with a coffee in hand. My camera hung off the strap which was around my neck. The lens was covered, of course, to prevent damage. Oh hey! I should probably introduce myself. But I'm not going to do that. This story is about us; not me.
Normally, a story would begin nicely or in a way a reader never expects. Then it would go on with a sappy plot for the next couple of chapters until a proper dilemma causes a problem and causes either a happy ending or a depressing one.
Just so you know, our story doesn't start off like that. You have to learn to understand us.
Don't expect anything nice from me. Don't expect a cute little introduction about my personal details and whereabouts; or thoughts stuck in your head waiting to be answered, because that's for you to answer yourself.
Back to the story. Yes? No? What do you want from me?! You annoy me, so please leave me alone or else I won't continue with this tale of how we met.
Have you shut up yet? Yes? Okay. I'll continue then. Just keep your mouth shut.
I specialized in photography. Capturing aesthetic photos of things was something I was so passionate about. I loved it.
The time came when I had to head back to the dorm. It was peaceful there, too. A place where I liked to stay, unlike the uncomfortable, tension-high classrooms in my school. It felt unsafe; unnatural, actually. My stereotypical self always expected a classroom to be full of determined individuals willing to take education seriously in exchange for a good job. A good future. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that not all things go your way, and not all things turn out as expected.
Your mind is a realm filled with impeccable lies. Your eyes can show your misery.
Heading back to a place I called home, I took several more photographs; shamelessly stopping by and standing in an awkward position just to capture what I see.
What I see is the beauty of the world.
Beauty made my mind peaceful. If you could read my mind, my mind would be filled with nothing but a white realm. Nothing but tranquility.
Once I returned to my dorm, I wasn't greeted with just Levy, my dorm mate. I was appalled by the several other teens that were scattered around the floor of the room, obnoxiously talking away without noticing my small and frightened presence clearly starting to fill the room as they averted their gazes from each other to me.
Awkwardly, I waved at them, uncomfortably shifting in the spot.
The tension is overwhelming in this room! It feels like the roof is going to explode any second now from the pressure I'm feeling. Oh god- what am I going to do?
"Shrimp, who's this blondie?" One of them says, smirking at me.
It was clear they were up to no good and I could feel that in the air.
"Lu, play Truth or Dare with us! We were expecting one more person but they canceled on us," The short, blue haired girl said, looking at me with hope in her eyes. "plus, I have a new feather pen that I really don't want so I'm thinking of giving it away. Unless..."
A blush crept up my face. My eyes widened with the determination to get that pen, no matter what.
