"He's the King, my lady." The maid says as she helps you into your tight fitted corset.
"I still don't understand why he chose me to be his wife." You complain as she stands back to look at you.
"I don't know. He is very quiet. Maybe if you were to ask him yourself-"
"I only promised a dance." You cut in and walked over to your dresser. "I'm sorry, I just..."
"It's ok." She smiles and hands you a makeup kit and a jewelry box. You grab a set of earrings and hand her the jewel box back. You already had a necklace and you loved it very much. It was from a childhood friend that had the same one, but you two were separated.
(Flashback)
"Wil?" You say and hold the boy's arm to look at you. His blue eyes pierce your own (e/c) ones.
"I have to leave. My father said that you were a distraction and that I should be with someone from noble birth." You look at the limo and see a dark-haired boy open the car door for Wil. "But I want you to have this." He takes out a necklace with a pendant of his family crest. "Always wear this and I promise, I will find you." You took the necklace and placed it in your pocket. He smiled at you and kissed your forehead. "I do love you." Then he was gone.
(End)
"If I were to be in your position, I would be acting the same way." Her words bring you back.
"What's he like?" You ask and she giggles.
"Like I said, he's quiet. No one has ever heard him speak besides his butler."
(Time Skip)
It was like a scene from a fairytale. You look around the ballroom to try and find someone you knew while King Wilfred was sitting on the throne. He looks up towards you and a faint blush covers his cheeks. When you finally spot him, Claude steps in front of you. "Miss (y/n), I'm glad you could join us this evening." He says while taking your hand and kissing it. "May I ask for a dance?" You nod and he leads you to the floor.
"I was wondering, Claude, why me?" You ask and he smiles at you.
"Wilfred has been looking for a wife for many years. And since he's out of time, he chose you."
"I still don't understand." You mumble and he places one finger under your chin so you look at him.
"I can." Was all he replied and you thought he was going to kiss you, but he didn't.
Time slowed as he moved his hand back to your waist. You could feel everyone's eyes upon you, even Wilfred's. Claude was gentle with you. He looked like the kind of man who would be hard to get along with, but in this moment, he didn't.
When the song ended, you felt another hand on your waist. That hand pulled you away from Claude and towards themselves. "She's to be my wife, Claude, not yours." A male voice said and you looked up to see Wilfred staring coldly at Claud. Claude had a slight smirk on his face as he wrapped his arm around your other side.
"But I still have to take care of her." He replied and you noticed that the music stopped.
"Oh stop it you two." You started giggling and forced their hands of you, but you made it looks like you gently pushed them off. "Now c'mon, it's been forever since we've hung out." You try to make it sound like you three haven't seen each other in a long time in order to change the mood.
Wilfred smiled softly at you and so did Claude. "I'm sorry, (y/n). It's been so long since we've seen you." Wilfred whispers as he twirls a strand of your hair between his fingers. He sounded as if he meant it. "And we've missed you so much."
"I missed you too." You smile, but you still had no idea who these two men were.
(Time Skip)
"My lady, you got the king to speak!" The same young maid squealed behind you as she was helping you out of the dreadful corset.
"Yeah, I did." You mumble. "I know kings have a study. Do you know where he is?"
"I think he would be in bed by this hour." You nod your head.
"And where is his room?" She gasps at your question.
"No, you can't go in there."
"Just tell me where it is." You command and she does. You walk to Wilfred's room and almost open the door.
"She doesn't remember us, Claude." Wilfred sighs.
"She remembers you, at least."
"How do you know?"
"She's still wearing the necklace you gave her when you two were little. And she may not remember your face, but she does remember who you are." You immediately open the door.
"It was you?" You ask. "You were the one who gave me this necklace?" You show Wilfred your necklace and he pulls the same necklace out from under his shirt. "But I was just a distraction, you said it yourself."
"Yes, I did say that, but it wasn't something I meant."
"Then please, clarify what a thirteen-year-old me heard that day you gave me this necklace."
"My parents had me on a tight leash during that time, and I had to think about the future of this kingdom." He let out a shaky breath. "You were the only thing that kept me sane. The only thing that truly cared about what I wanted." He looks at Claude. "Sorry, but we weren't that close yet." He looks back at you. "Anyway, my parents hounded me and eventually I snapped." He gets up out of his seat and starts to walk towards you. "For twelve years, I consistently thought about nothing other than you."
"Then why ask for me now?" He stands in front of you with a sullen look.
"I knew my parents would become impatient and eventually let me have the freedom to chose who I wanted to marry. But I'm not going to force you to marry me." He paused for a moment. Is he waiting for my answer now? I can barely remember him from so long ago.
"I don't understand. It's been twelve years, Prince Wilfred." He stiffens at the name.
"Please, just call me Wil like you used to."
"We're not kids anymore. You're a prince and eventually, you will be king. Your parents were right, I'm not suitable for you. Someone from a noble family would have more training to rule your country than I would. I-I can't-" You stop when he points towards the door. "I'm sorry-" You begin but he shakes his head at you.
"Don't be. I was foolish to think you would still love me. Please, please leave." And so you did.
(It gets better in the next chapter.)( Please don't bash on me for this one. I do read the comments of what people are saying on here and I've felt like completely stopping my fanfics because of some of them and they're only minor things. Please, only spread love and praise to everyone around you. Just one mean thing will settle into the back of someone's mind and carve its way into the front completely bypassing all the nice things said by others.)
(For JuneSpes101: Thank you for giving me the confidence to post this.)

Random One Shots
FanfictionThe title pretty much sums it up. Most of the one shots will be the reader (you) and a character either from a game, TV show, movie, anime, book character, etc. I do NOT own the characters, the characters photos or you... that would be weird. Also...
