Chapter 6
“Faster April, don’t hesitate, the enemy won’t give you a break nor chance, you have to take it, every second counts.” I order, she groans tiredly hunching her shoulders panting.
“I need a break.” She breaths out throwing herself to the floor.
I nod reluctantly, we have been training for an entire week. Master Splinter teach her during the day and when she returned to the lair I teach her some of my moves during the late afternoon.
The turtles were not to interrupt nor train with us, since April was starting and I had decided to train by myself instead than with them on the mornings. Speaking of which, I guess they had left already for patrolling time since it was too quiet around.
“Takara, April.” Master Splinter walks out of his room snatching both of our gazes towards him.
“I see you’ve improved quite a lot April, must say Takara you are a good trainer for a young kunoichi.” He praises both of us, April grins and thanks him, and so do I.
“Thank you Master Splinter, but I have to say, she is too fast even when she is slow…I can’t keep up.” Aprils looks down to her feet.
“April, Takara has been training all her life. You on the other hand, have been training for such a short period time and look what you’ve achieved.” He replies placing a gently hand on her shoulder, she looks up and smiles with a sigh.
“Thank you, but I have to get home, Takara are you coming or are you going to catch up patrolling with the guys?” April turns to face me, I nod instantly.
“Both, you and me are going rooftop jumping, come on, last thing of training.” I smirk when her face turns into a frantic unsure expression, she opens her mouth to protest but I shush her.
Splinter chuckles and pats her head affectionately dismissing us from the dojo.
“Just imagine yourself jumping easily, feel like a feather but in control like the wind…that really sounded better in my head.” I frown, she gives me an exasperated look.
I look down the building we were currently on top of, I analyze the distance, and it was not that far away from the other rooftop, barely four feet, maybe six.
“Come on, be like a bullet.” I tried again groaning inwardly and biting my lip in annoyance.
“You are not helping.” She mutters besides me, a faint smile across her face.
“Shut up and jump.” I order her taking impulse and jumping expertly.
I land on the ball of my feet and turn around, April stands hesitant but with one last determined breath she takes impulse a few feet back and runs, jumping off the tip and lands on her feet in a crunch down position besides me.
She opens her eyes and looks around her, mesmerized.
“I did it! Oh my God! I did it! Ah!” jumping up and down she claps to herself, I can’t help but laugh shake my head and clap at her.
“Come on kunoichi! Race you home!” I dare her dashing for the next rooftop, I hear her footsteps behind me and her response back saying it wasn’t that fair, fair or not, I won.
“Any message for Donnie Boy?” I grin teasing her, she growls under her breath, her cheeks turning a hot red.
It wasn’t my fault, last time I checked, Donnie called and her ‘shell phone’ had flashed the name Donnie Boy with a space-off Donnie covered with hearts and stars.
“No I don’t. Goodnight Kara.” April waves me off, I smirk waving back and jump on top of her building walking to the edge.
I pull out my phone and dial Mikey’s number but then decide to call Donnie instead, since, well if Mikey was fighting and got distracted he would end up seriously injured.
