I sat there holding her hand and listening to the sound of a heart monitor as it beat irregularly, but beautifully nonetheless. I traced an infinity sign onto her hand, tears filled my eyes but I refused to let them fall.

...then I felt her hand squeeze mine. I looked up at her and watched her eyes weakly flutter open. "you stayed." she breathed and I nodded, wiping away my tears and laughing with joy. "I'd never leave you.. especially in a time of need." I said, repeating the same words she told me.

"I'll always need you, babe." she said and we both smiled.

just then, a doctor came in. "I'm afraid I have terrible news." our smiles faded, we looked at one another. "Fleur lost her baby..."

"sh-she was pregnant?" I say, she too is surprised.

fleur and I simply sat on the hospital bed and sobbed, as if that could heal her and our baby...
