Katniss hates having to hunt rabbits, especially white ones, because she feels like she has violated something pure and innocent just for her benefit. She felt like the Capitol. She prefers to catch them in traps and snares than directly killing them with her arrows. Another reason why she wanted Gale to teach her how to make traps.
