Ch 6 Things get Scaley

(Third Person P.O.V)

"......IF WE DON'T FIND THE THIEVES AND EGG IN TIME." Concluded Eragon after listing all the BAD stuff that could POSSIBLY happen if the missing gold egg wasn't found ASAP. Apparently camp was in danger of destruction and we could all become barbeque ECT, ECT.

"It can not possibly be THAT bad" Chiron said soothingly to Eragon and the OBVIOUSLY outraged elves.

"You don't understand," Eragon sighed, "Wild dragons can be unpredictable and well...WILD. No one is safe until we find the egg....."

"...or the hatchling," continued Saphira making everyone flinch. "It is also possible the egg could hatch for one of your demigods, and we don't know what the effects of two such bonds could be...."

"...Tyler is already a rider and her bond with her dragon is different than the elves and I expected. Another demigod and dragon bond......"

"....... could be very dangerous and unhealthy for both the dragon and demigod." Saphira finished.

"So the best question is who of your demigods is most likely to be the thief? Asked Blödhgarm menacingly.

Chiron sighed, "One of the Hermes children is most likely to be the culprit."

"THEN YOU MUST TAKE US TO THESE HERMES CHILDREN," Blödhgarm practically yelled.

Eragon gave the furry elf a sharp look. "Blödhgarm is right, though he could have been kinder, we MUST search your children of Hermes for the thief.

Travis P.O.V

The hardest part of thievery is cover up. First things first, you remove all evidence that you possess the object or objects you stole. Then, you create a story in which you are busy at the time of the robbery. Third, be a freaking boss and have the world's best poker face. And lastly, kill or hide any accomplices, that's why I sent Connor to get us more candy from the nearby convenience store. I just finished doing all of this so when the Dragon Dude and Blue Teddy Bear came and searched the cabin and questioned us all. They found nothing. Until....

"We are going to begin a mind search on all of you in this cabin. A mind search entails me searching your mind for the whereabouts of the missing egg," the longer Dragon Dude spoke the deeper dread set in, " No harm will come to any of you, including the culprit(s), unless you resist. This may seem unfair to all of you who were not involved, but if all of you comply you will get $100 toward anything in the camp store."

There were a few murmurs of protest but they were quickly drown out by those next to them. 'OHHHH MY GODS WHAT DO I DO!' ,I panickedly thought, 'I'm up the frickin Styx without a paddle OR a boat.?'

"Please everyone line up in front of me in a SINGLE file line," Dragon Dude said. And everyone quickly obeyed.

'I need a spot in the back of the line so I have a longer time to think' And seeing as everyone else didn't want to be in back so I got my wish. 'I don't think that there is a way out of this one', I thought as the mind search started, slowly making its way to me.
'I'm doomed'

Eragon P.O.V

'Atleast their not complaining too much' I thought between looking through the half-bloods memories. 'I expected to have to use force in order for then to comply, but this wasn't as hard as I thought.' The next half-blood came in front of me looking worried.

"Don't worry I promise this won't hurt and I won't tell anyone anything embarrassing that I find," I said to the boy before me. As I spoke I could see him relax. Once he was reassured I reached out with my mind and did a quick guilt and fear check. Upon finding none I returned to my body and asked for the next one.

After checking at least twenty different half-bloods I was down to three and still had not found the thief, but the last half-blood in line, a blonde boy, wouldn't look me in the eye so maybe.... I quickly finished the other two and just as the boy walked up to me the screaming started.

"The boat is on FIRE!"

"Theres dragons EVERYWHERE!"

"HELLLLPPPPP!!"
