Marie heard leaves being stepped on, indicating footsteps behind her. Her mother's strong perfume filled the air. Marie refused to look back at her mother, and kept drowning in an imaginary dark room. "Marie...there's something important you should know..."Marie could sense her mother in a very serious tone.
Marie hesitated, blinking her dark starry eyes. "Yes, mummy?"She shivered while cool wind brushed across her hair and face. Her mother sighed and opened her mouth slowly, about to say something.
"APRIL FOOLS, LOSER. I GOT YOU GOOD, HUH?"Her mother covered her mouth to keep from laughing.
