A demon or 'daemon'(as the archaic spelling goes) is a paranormal, often malevolent being prevalent in religion, occultism, literature, fiction, and folklore. The original Greek word daimon does not carry the negative connotation initially understood by implementation of the Koine (daimonion), and later ascribed to any cognate words sharing the root.
In Ancient Near Eastern religions, as well as in the Abrahamic traditions, including ancient and medieval Christian demonology, a demon is considered an unclean spirit, sometimes a fallen angel, the spirit of a deceased human, or a spirit of unknown type which may cause demonic possession, calling for an exorcism. In Western occultism and Renaissance magic, which grew out of an amalgamation of Greco Roman magic, Jewish demonology, and Christian tradition, a demon is a spiritual entity that may be conjured and controlled.
Demons like to feed off of chaos and destruction, but they like short bursts rather than prolonged exposure.
There is dispute that there are many different types of demons; some more powerful than others, some are demon Lords or Cheiftens, some have specific powers which can be passed on through the act of possesstion when sexual coitus in progress. The latter process produces half-demon heirs with their main features being that of the paternal parent(mother).
Half demons can be mainly male. If they are male, then they tend to have an enormous height difference between themselves and humans (usually six feet or over). Female half demons can be of varying sizes. But all half demons do possess more than twice the amount of strength of a normal human being.
The powers of demons follow as:
Fire, water, weather, visions, enhanced vision (x-ray and/or distance zooming), enhanced defences(like metal or daimond skin)-anything you can think up. It is disputed that demons don't actually have powers, but you can give a demon a domain if you want. For example, a half demon woman who can control the weather(specifically rain stroms) could be the offspring of a demon called Tempus (obvious connection-tempus and tempest, meaning storm)
Basically, most superpowers from the X-Mens mutant forces can be passed down through demon decoding-(Though obviously not mutant genes, demon genes.)
