Approximately half an hour after Derek's encounter with his father, Derek was pacing around the kitchen, making himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And then he heard two sets of footsteps coming down the stairs. He was surprised to see Denise and Shelby looking around. They came into the kitchen and looked at Derek.
"You wouldn't happen to know where Jasmine is, would you D?" Denise piped.
"Jasmine? Wouldn't have a clue." he shook his head. "Why's that?"
"Well a while ago we were up in her room with her, then she said something about needing to confront your father about going to the Palace and she never came back." Shelby explained. Denise gave her the are you kidding me? look, but added nothing to it.
"The Palace?" Derek questioned. "Right. Well um... If you see her, let me know, okay? I'm sure she's just cooling off. Things were pretty intense with her.. meeting." Derek shrugged. The two girls nodded.
"Alright. Well, see ya." Denise said and they left the house. After Derek finished eating his sandwich, he scraped the crusts into the bin and pulled out his sliding phone. He dialled Jasmine's number, and not surprisingly, it went straight to voice mail. Derek grabbed his car keys and jogged out of the house and to his SUV. He got in and drove straight to the Pack house. When he got there, he got Trent and a few other Warrior wolves to scout their territory for her.
"It's probably a false alarm," Derek assured them. "But I just want to be certain."
They nodded and headed out the door. Derek left himself and headed to the lakes, on the other side of the woods that surrounded his property. He thought she'd just be blowing off steam or going for a swim. When he got there however, he realised Jasmine wasn't there, and her scent was no where in the area.
An hour later, when he still hadn't heard from her, and the Warrior wolves came back with nothing, he panicked and called Scott. Scott had nothing to offer him either. The sun was quickly disappearing behind the clouds at this point, it was close to seven pm. Derek sighed and made his way home. He'd just have to cover for Jasmine and tell their father she was staying at Shelby's house.
When Derek finally returned home, he walked briskly inside to see Avery and Denise in the kitchen, taking the plates of food to the dining area. He also noticed Clarise - Denise's mum, already seated at the table with his father, Tyson, Katy and their son Max. Max waved at Derek, Derek waved back, only less enthusiastically.
Shortly, everyone was seated at the table, Derek sat beside his best friend. Max occasionally would whisper to him and tell him about his new plans to win over the new girl's heart, and rob her of her "virtue" as he would put it.
"Derek," his father cleared his throat. "Where is your sister?" he asked, minutes after Derek sat down. Derek swallowed the potato he had shoved in his mouth and he forced a smile,
"She told me she was staying at, Shelby's house." he nodded affirmatively. His father frowned, Avery and Denise shared a confused look. Derek pressed his lips together and when he saw Shelby round the corner and join them at the table, he panicked.
"Who's staying at mine?" she asked politely.
"My daughter apparently." Derek's father answered, mono-toned. Derek could only nervously smile and shrug,
"Then um... I-" Derek anxiously scratched at his brains for an answer.
"Where is she Derek?" his father was growing impatient and grumpy. Derek bowed his head,
"I don't know, sir."
"You don't know?" he repeated in question. "HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW?"
Everyone shushed immediately.
