CASE 5: Stop me from loving her again

-previously : in the ending of the last chapter, Minhyuk & Wendy slept at the office.

"Unnie...Unnie!? Wendy Unnie?"
I open my eyes slowly to see Yuju.
"Yuju? What time is it? What are you doing in my room?"
"Your room? Unnie this is the office."
I realize that i'm bent over my desk.
"What?"
I sit up and my back cracks.
"Owwww. Oh my gosh. My back is gonna kill me all day."
"Ahaha, unnie, you and team leader slept here last night."
Team leader slept here too?
I look over at his desk and sure enough, he's sleeping in his chair.
Minhyuk starts to wake up slowly.
I look away and start stretching.
Minhyuk yawns and turns to me.
"Good morning. Did you have a good sleep?"
A good sleep?
"No, not even. My back hurts so much right now. Whats our next case?"
Minhyuk takes out a file.
"Go Hye Mi, (btw if you didn't know Go Hye Mi was the character Bae Suzy played in dream high) A 21 year old is wondering about her Boyfriend. She should be here soon."
DK walks into the office.
"Detective Wendy where were you this morning?"
"Ah, I fell asleep here last night."
As I get up something falls. I look down. It's a coat.
A coat? Who's coat is it?
I look over at Minhyuk. He doesn't have his coat on.
It must be his.
I get up and walk over to Minhyuk. I hand him the coat.
"Thanks for the coat Team leader."
"No problem Detective Wendy."
He takes his coat, then he puts his hands on both my shoulders.
Are we on this level to even be touching each other?
Someone knocks on the door.
It must be the client.
"Come in", says DK.
A beautiful women walks into the room. Everything about her was perfect. She was very chic and slender.
Minhyuk's hands drop from my shoulders.
"Annyeong...Oppa." The women says.
She's looking to Minhyuk.
Oppa?
We ALL look at Minhyuk.
Minhyuk's eyes are filled with rage.
He grabs her arm and pulls her out of the room quickly.
We all look at each other.
"What was that about...?", I say.
DK & Yuju shrug their shoulders.

Minhyuk drags her out side and lets go of her arm.
"Yaaa, Bae Suzy. What are you doing here!?"
She tries to smile.
"Calm down oppa. At least say hi."
"I don't need to say Hi to the women who left me on our wedding day!"
"...oppa...I'm sorry...there were reasons."
Minhyuk scoffs and rolls his eyes.
"What reasons!?"
"...Just...things that I cant tell you, okay. Please believe me."
"No. Not okay. "
Minhyuk walks back to the office and Suzy follows. He opens the door and sees that the head of the detective is standing in the office.
"Ah..Hello Team leader Minhyuk." Says the boss.
"Hello boss."
"We decided that the love detective team should go on a camping trip. You guys are the only team who haven't had a team bonding trip yet, and this is it."
"Omo, you should agree to it team leader", says DK.
"Um, yeah. Sure. Okay, I guess we will go on this team bonding trip next week."
Boss turns to the love detective team.
"No"
He wags his pointer finger.
"You guys are gonna be going on this bonding trip, TODAY."
Today??? Damn. I was not ready for this. But who cares. Not me. As long as I don't gotta work, I'm good.
Boss looks over at Suzy.
"And you are?"
"Ah, Hello. I'm Bae Suzy."
So her name is Bae Suzy. Okay. Even her name is as glamorous as her face.
"Yes Bae Suzy. Are you close friends with team leader Minhyuk?"
"N-", Minhyuk tries to say no but Suzy abruptly cuts him off.
"Yes. I am. We've known each other for 5 years."
5 years? Dang....but why hasn't he ever talked about this girl he's known for 5 years?
"Ahaha, well Ms. Bae Suzy, would you like to attend the bonding trip?"
Minhyuk's eyes open wide with rage and confusion, but Suzy on the other hand,
"Oh my gosh. Yes. I would love to."
DK, Yuju, and I all look at each other.
Wait...wasn't this a TEAM bonding trip? Last time I checked, we never had anyone on this team called Bae Suzy.
But we brush it off.
"Okay. Love detective team you guys may leave to go pack your belongings and head out. Everything you need is ready and in the van."
Boss leaves and we head out of the office to go get our things.
I pack my stuff at home and go back to the office.
DK helps me put my luggage into the van and we start to leave.
Suzy ended up sitting next to me in the back.
I look over at Suzy and analyze her.
She is so pretty. She must have guys falling for her left and right.
She turns her head and we make eye contact.
"Sorry. Aha. I'm staring too much." I say flustered.
Embarrassing.
"Ahaha, no it's fine Detective Wendy."
"You can call me Wendy."
We smile at each other.
We start to talk about life and we start bonding.
"So how long have you been working with oppa?...Minhyuk"
"Uhh, Maybe about 5 months? Maybe more?"
"Ohh. Nice. Ahaha." Suzy fakes a laugh.
We arrive at the camping site. We unpack our items and we set up our tents.
Damn. Tents are hard to put up.
I look over at Minhyuk and DK. They're almost done putting up their tent.
I sneak a peak at Suzy. She's having a difficult time.
Suzy looks over at Minhyuk, probably hoping for some assistance.
Minhyuk looks at Suzy then turns to DK.
"Detective DK, go help her..."
"Huh?...Ah, yes."
DK runs over to Suzy and helps her put up her tent.
Yuju taps my shoulder.
"Unnie, I have to go grab something out of the van. I'll be right back."
I nod my head.
"Yupp, go ahead."
Yuju runs to the van and I continue to try to put up the tent.
Damn. Why is this tent so hard to put up?
I try to hold up a long skinny pole but it starts to tip over. Before it falls completely over someone grabs it from above me.
"Ahaha, you're gonna hit someone with this pole."
I turn around and it's team leader.
He smiles at me.
Why is he smiling at me? I thought he disliked me....hmm. Is he playing tricks on me?
I look over and I see Suzy looking at us. Her eyes filled with sadness and envy.
After we finish putting up the tents DK, Minhyuk, and Yuju leave to go find some wood for the fire tonight.
Suzy and I are left alone...and it's awkward.
"Soooo...", I say hoping we can break the awkwardness.
Suzy clears her throat.
"Excuse me if this comes off rude but..."
I'm nervous. Is she gonna tell me she hates my shoes or something?
"Do you like Minhyuk?"
What? NO WAY. More like the opposite.
"No. aha..He's just a coworker."
"Oh...is that so?...that's a relief. Aha..."
Relief? Now I'm curious.
"Well...If you don't mind me asking...what's up with you and team leader?"
She smiles at the ground.
"We were engaged."
ENGAGED!!!!!!!! TEAM LEADER HAS A WOMEN???? Well...Had.
"Oh my gosh...what happened?" I ask.
"I haven't told anyone about this. I don't know why but...I feel like I can trust you. Promise not to tell anyone?"
"Of course. Not a peep from me."
Suzy sighs.
"I left him on the day of our engagement."
Horrible...
"I know. I'm horrible. But I didn't leave him because I wanted to, but because I was threatened...by his mother. We dated for 3 years and he proposed to me. His mother didn't accept me because he wanted oppa to marry some noble women his mom tried to set him up with. On the day of the wedding, right when I was gonna walk out on the floor, I got a phone call. It was the hospital. They called saying that someone pushed my brother off of a bridge. He almost drowned. After the phone call, Minhyuks mother walks in and says that if I don't leave now, she's gonna make sure my brother doesn't survive the next time. I was scared for my brother. He's my only family. Our parents passed away when we were kids. I couldn't loose him either. So...I left. I went to the hospital and that night I got a call from his mom. She told me to disappear . To never contact Minhyuk again or else. I cried everyday night after night after night for the next 2 years. There was never a day I didn't think about oppa. After I sent my brother off to America to study, I came back here. I realized that I cant live without Minhyuk any longer. Everyday without oppa was torture. And now...here I am."
She starts crying and I comfort her.
Dang, talk about Romeo and Juliet.
Minhyuk, DK, and Yuju return with wood.
Suzy wipes her tears.
I look at Minhyuk.
I can't believe it. I kinda...pity him? I mean his ex fiancé is here, hanging around him. His heart must be aching.
"Let's go help them Suzy", I say hoping to keep her mind off of what she just told me.
We help them start the fire and we sit around it.
The mood was amazing and calm.
"Unnie, remember when you use to sing to us all the time." Yuju playfully punches Wendy's arm.
"Ahaha, Yaa Yuju! Dont. Its embarrassing."
DK grabs my arm.
"Detective Wendy, sing us a song!"
Minhyuk grabs my other arm.
"As the team leader, I think we should hear Detective Wendy sing a song." Minhyuk smiles.
I look at all of them.
"Ahaha, okay okay okay."
I start singing If by kim Taeyeon. I close my eyes because I was way too embarrassed to look at them while singing.
The song comes to an end and everyone claps.
I look at Suzy and she seems left out. So I try to include her.
"Suzy-ssi. Why don't you sing us a song?"
"Huh?...aha, sure."
Suzy starts to sing Eyes, Nose, Lips by Taeyang, and Minhyuk walks away into his tent.
Awkward...
Suzy never finished the song.
"Uhh, we should go to sleep now..." I say.
DK puts out the fire and we head to our tents.
Minhyuk cant fall asleep.
He walks outside with a lantern.
He puts the lantern down and thinks about when Suzy started singing.
That's how he fell for her the first time. Her voice was mesmerizing.
"Annyeong."
Minhyuk turns around.
It was Suzy.
She walks next to him.
"Cant sleep either?"
Minhyuk doesn't respond.
"What a beautiful night, right?"
No response again.
"...I heard...", Minhyuk says.
Suzy looks at Minhyuk.
"Heard what?..."
"...What you were saying to Detective Wendy..."
He turns to Suzy with tears in his eyes.
"Why didn't you just tell me?..."
Suzy doesn't respond.
Minhyuk grabs her shoulders. 
"WHY!?"
Suzy starts to panic.
"WHY!?" Minhyuk asks again.
"BECAUSE!" Suzy gets teary.
"...because...because I didn't want you to be angry with your mother. She's your one and only mom. I lost my mom and I didn't want you loosing yours because of me."
They stand there not saying anything.
It felt like an eternity.
Minhyuk lets go of suzy's shoulders. He doesn't say anything.
He turns around and takes 3 steps towards his tent. Suzy runs and hugs him from behind. She starts to cry.
"Oppa...I'm sorry...forgive me."
They stand there and Minhyuk doesn't respond.
"Please answer me..." Suzy is crying hard.
"I cant Suzy...I cant..."
Minhyuk unravels Suzy's arms from him and walks toward the tent.
"I LOVE YOU!"
Minhyuk stops in his tracks. Tears start to roll down his cheeks.
Minhyuk quickly turns around and walks toward Suzy. He grabs her face and leans in for a kiss.
But he stops himself. He snaps back into reality. He can't fall for Suzy again.
He lets go of her face and walks into the tent.
Suzy stands there alone in the dark.

It's the next day.
I open my eyes and my back is still killing me. I get out of the tent to go help clean up.
I walk out and everyone is already out there cleaning.
"GOOD MORNING GUYS!!!"
"Good morning unnie!" Yuju is waving her hands in the air.
"Annyeong Detective Wendy." DK winks.
"Hello Wendy-ssi." Suzy smiles.
"Good morning Detective Wendy." Minhyuk waves.
Suzy looks at me with admiration and then turns to Minhyuk.
"Oppa...can we talk about...yesterday?"
Yesterday? What happened yesterday?
Minhyuk doesn't make eye contact.
"There's nothing to talk about."
Dang. That was cold.
We gather up our things and put them in the van.
We head back to the office. By the time we get to the office its night time.
DK and Yuju go home. Minhyuk and I go back to the office to finish looking through the files.
Suzy tags along.
This is really awkward. I feel like i'm third wheeling or something.
"Uhh, hey, Suzy-ssi, you can sit at my desk, I'll sit at the circle."
"Ah, yes, thank you."
Minhyuk scowls.
Okay...maybe that wasn't a good idea. Stating the fact that my desk is directly parallel from Team leaders desk. But whatever, they gotta figure this out on their own and i'm not gonna meddle with it.
*2:00 am*
I sneak over at Suzy.
She's falling asleep, but tries to stay awake.
I call her a taxi.
"Suzy-ssi?"
She wakes up.
"Yes detective wendy..."
She stretches.
"It's getting late. You should get going. I called you a taxi."
Suzy looks at the clock.
"Omo, do you guys always stay here this late?"
"Aha, we stay later sometimes."
"Aha..okay. Thanks for calling me a taxi. I'll get going."
She stands up and opens the door.
"See you later oppa..."
Minhyuk looks away and doesn't respond.
"See you soon Detective Wendy."
"Yes. Bye Suzy-ssi."
Suzy leaves.
I turn to Minhyuk and give him the 'wtf' look.
"What..?" Minhyuk shrugs his shoulders acting like he doesn't know.
"Don't act like you don't know what you're doing. I know whats going on between the 2 of you and she really wants you back. Stop being so mean to her. "
Minhyuk doesn't respond.
"Team leader, maybe you should just give her a chance."
"I cant...No...I don't want to.."
"Why not?"
Minhyuk looks down.
Dramatic pause.
"Because I don't want any of this to happen again. I was so heart broken and I never want to go through this ever again. I can't . It was torture."
I feel pity towards him. I've never seen him like this before.
I walk over to Minhyuk.
I put my hand on his chin and raise his head up.
"Keep your head up team leader."
Minhyuk starts to cry.
I've never seen team leader cry before. I thought That he was just some cold heartless person, but I guess he does have a heart.
The next thing Minhyuk said, shook me. I was shook.
"Yesterday I almost kissed her..."
Whoaa...
"But I stopped myself...I can't fall for her again. I can't go through all of this again."
True. He was heart broken. Well....I suppose. If that's what he wants....
Minhyuk grabs and hugs my waist.
My cheeks get hot.
Whoaa...again.
"Uh, team leader..."
I try to lightly push him off but he doesn't let go.
"Detective Wendy...?"
"...y-yes...team leader..."
"Can you stop me from loving her again?"
Whoaa...again...and again.
