Chapter Ten

"You ready?" I asked Eliza while she sat in front of me on my bed, she looked perplexed and afraid. It was already the time of your escape; during the day, both of us acted casually, took our medicines and stayed in our rooms. Everything was planned between both of us, we both knew what to do. I asked Dr. Collins if Eliza could spend some time companying me in my room; she accepted. But little does she know, it's not just a casual night..such a fool. I computed everything, and as far as I studied, the guard Riley leaves his place at 11:04 to go to the restroom then the guard Fred takes his place at 11:06. During those two minutes, my partner-in-crime and I, shall escape. How we would get out? Riley's dog, Thor, has a small door where he enters from. But Thor isn't a puppy, he is tall enough for a German shepherd. And luckily for Eliza and I, we're somehow little..that's why we would pass through it. Regarding Thor, he's going to be distracted, by the pieces of meat which Eliza and I will award him with..we hadn't eaten our lunch just to give them to the dog. Smart enough? I know. We've packed everything, I was too excited already to leave this damned place. Eliza was as well; but she was horrified, expecting us to fail.

"What if..they caught us?" Eliza asked in anxiety.

"Liza, trust me. Please." I begged her. She sighed, giving up.

10:57; it was time to check the corridors. Basically, bed time was supposed to be at nine o'clock. Eliza had put a pillow in her bed, covered her with a blanket, turned off the lights and pretended it was her sleeping. She left my room, to go and get her bag and also to check the corridors. She walked slowly on her toes, she covered her nose and mouth to prevent breathing. She successfully came back, with our bags with us, it was time to go. Leaving the door closed behind us, we started walking through the corridor, heading to the stairs when suddenly and without anticipation, we found Dr. Samantha Collins in our faces. Our faces went white, while Collins smirked a smart and evil smirk. Eliza looked at me a look which meant "I told you we'd fail!" I turned to Collins, with scared eyes, she raised an eyebrow surprisingly and said;

"Going somewhere, girls?"

"No, Dr. Collins. We were just hanging around!" I told her merrily.

"Hanging around..with your pack-bags?" she asked us warily.

Eliza and I exchanged looks, which meant we had nothing to say. But Eliza broke out saying "It's a long story, Dr. Collins! You see, Christina had a problem...." Collins focused on what Eliza was saying. I took the opportunity, and slowly turned away, till I was behind Collins, and with a handkerchief in my hands, sprayed it with pepper-spray (which I had for self defense) and before Collins could even look, I put the handkerchief on her face, covering her nose and mouth. Her eyes were too wide, opened in severe shock. I smirked at her smartly, while Eliza looked at me with bewildered eyes and whispered "Christina..". Collins was swooning already, and quickly she fell on the floor..fainted. Hastily, I took my bags, so did Eliza and we left the building.

It was 11:04, and luckily, Riley wasn't there. I looked at Eliza and said "Run for your life." She nodded. We ran quickly, very quickly to the gate. And I pulled out the pieces of meat for Thor, and threw them away. Thor, as a dog, quickly ran after them to catch them. 11:05...Thor's door wasn't locked, so I opened it. Then Eliza and I moved on hands and knees till we got out of the gate. We pulled our bags as well. 11:06; I was a genius! We heard Thor's howling and we quickly hid behind a bush. The gate was opened, and Fred's flashlight was on, searching for something. After that he said, telling Thor "There's nothing, boy! Stupid dog!"

A sigh of relief was out from me and Eliza. I looked at her in alleviated eyes and murmured "We won." She smiled at me like a complete fool; and I did the same, actually. We stood up with our hands together, accepting the fact that we achieved our well-planned goal. I felt overwhelmed, too surprised to believe what we've actually done. Despite the annoying Collins which stopped us for like two minutes, we managed to do everything accurately. Or..I did, I was the mind. I was the planner, and I managed to keep everything right. Behind the building's wall, I noticed that lights were turned on. Horrified, I told Eliza "Haven't you missed running? Again, run for your life..till the end of this huge street. Don't stop until I say so." She nodded in agreement. And then the running trip started, we ran, ran, and ran for a very long time; maybe we wasted half-an-hour running. We got finally out of the hospital's area, then finally stopped. We were barely breathing, I drank water from which I had kept with me. Five minutes have passed, after that Eliza looked at me curiously and asked;
