Ch9: The Change

-Shays pov-

I woke up around 6:00am. I had an hour before breakfast started. I put my uniform on and brushed out my long brown hair and braided it so it wouldn't fly in my face. I suddenly heard a stone hit against the window as I walked over to it and peaked out being sure not to let to much light in because my sister was still sleeping. When I peaked out I saw Tobi standing there waving at me to come down and join him. I held up 2 fingers indicating I needed 2 mins. I grabbed my bag from the desk and put my shoes on closing the door quietly I ran down the stairs of the dorm. Once outside I met up with Tobi. As soon as he was close enough I pulled him in for a hug. He pulled away from me and smiled and said,

"Morning Shay."

"Morning Tobi what you doing here so early?"

I giggled he grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the side manor.

"Come on, I wanted to show you something."

He pulled me to a little bush along the side of the manor. Then began pushing the bush out of the way exposing a little wooden door.

"Follow me."

So I did. I followed him into the little door. We walked down some steps into a small hallway. Then into a little room at the end of the hall it was a small secret library. It had a chair and a small couch three walls were just bookshelf's. One wall was empty it only had a small fire place with two candle holders on either side of it. It was creepy and cute we sat down and started goofing off as usual. Telling new jokes we heard or just chatting about classes and such. It was around 6:50 when Tobi said,

"Let's get going it's almost time for breakfast and I am hungry."

I giggled saying,

"Okay lead the way."

Tobi got up and walked toward the fire place motioning for me to stand next to him. Once I was close he pulled one of the candle holders down. A door opened revealing a hallway. We entered and walked down the hall and then turned down a another hall and walked up a staircase. The stair case lead to a door. We opened the small door and found ourselves behind the statue of Alaric. Which stood just outside one of the classrooms. We made our way down to the mess hall. Once we got there we sat down with Dee, jake and ray to eat our breakfast. When we finished we headed to class. Our first two classes were pretty normal. Lunch flew by. Before we knew it we had to get changed into our hunting class clothes. Hunting class flew by and so did history of mythical creatures and survival class. Just as the sun set the bell rang indicating it was time to head to the dorms to sleep. As me and Dee left class together I was stopped when Tobi grabbed my waist and pulled me back. My back was against his chest and his hands around my waist. He was holding me to him. I felt his breath against my ear tickling me as he said,

"Shay walk with me please?"

I turned around and took a step back.

"Okay."

We walked slowly towards the dorm. We just made it out of the manor when a girl came running up and started flirting with Tobi. She was smiling and touching his arms as she talked. It bugged me I know me and Tobi are just friends but it bugged me and it hurt. Especially when he started flirting back. Then he hugged her in that moment something in me snapped. It felt like a burning sensation in the bottom of my belly I couldn't take it. I turned and ran back to the dorm I was almost there when I heard Tobi calling my name.

"Shay wait up, slow down."

I kept going once I made it to the dorm a man was standing by the door. He lead me down stairs stating,

"All Fledglings are asked to head to the basement mam."

When I got to the basement I saw all of us from the house of Alaric. All standing there in the middle of all these old jail cell looking rooms. There was enough of them for all of us. We were then asked to enter them one person per room. Once inside a man came in and chained us up to a small bed and just as he left he whispered.

"Good luck child."

And closed the door I heard the lock click. Eventually everything got quiet the first full moon in September shinning through the small window across the room was almost soothing. Just as I was about to dose off I felt it the burning that was in the bottom of my belly again. It moved and spread through my body down my legs to the tips of my toes. Up my arms to my finger tips it spread upwards. My chest I felt on fire then it entered my throat. It felt like someone stuck a metal stick that was just in a fire pit down my throat burning it. The burning went up to my head I felt like I was gunna explode. I was screaming and thrashing around the chains rattling as I pulled at them my body felt like waves of fire was washing through it. My eyes burning more hotter then a thousand burning suns. My heart pounding so fast and then it just stopped and everything went black. I don't remember anything after that until my eyes opened. I could see the dust on the small window on the opposite side of the little room I was in. I could see the rust on the chains that were around on my legs. I could hear footsteps on the stairs leading down here. I could hear my breath but I couldn't hear my heart beat. Just then the same man from before came in and smiled at me.

"Oh good you survived congratulations miss."

He un chained me and told me to follow him. I left the room and stood at the door watching others walking out from their rooms. Then I saw her my mother standing there at the stairs.

"Congratulations to all of you who survived. it's been 3 days since you were chained up don't worry your teachers all know what's going on and you will be okay. I bet your all wondering why it's night time outside. Well your officially vampires and vampires can not be out in the sun without a daylight ring or necklace. Without them the sun burns us. While it's dark out you will head to your rooms to grab your ring or neckless. Then head to the grand hall where there will be people who will make your jewelry into daylight jewellery so that you can walk around like the rest of us during the day. Now I must tell you that of 2 you out of the 20 fledglings In the house of Alaric did not survive the change. The family's have been notified and we will have a small ceremony for all those in the whole school who did not survive. Now off you go to get your jewelry and off to the great hall."

I got really worried about Tobi was he okay did he survive?

I ran back to my room scared also wondering if Dee was okay. Most of the worry washed away when She came running in and tackled me.

"Oh my gosh Shay your okay that's so good I was scared."

I smiled and we grabbed our jewelry. We left the house and ran down to the grand hall some women who taught us about the daylight jewelry and took them all into the back from the room for quite some time and at the end of the class she gave them back to us and told us to never take them off. Afterwards we headed back to the dorms to sleep. But just as I was getting close to the dorm somebody grabbed me from behind stopping me in my tracks. I spun around in the persons arm to see Tobi looking sad. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tight.

"I am glad your okay."

Was all I said he held me tight against him and whispered back

"I am sorry Shay."

I pulled away and looked at him

"Don't be idk why I got jealous I mean we are just friends right?"

Tobi looked at me and before I could do anything else his lips were on mine. Our lips moved together perfectly. He tasted like heaven the kiss felt like it lasted a long time before he pulled away.

"No Shay we are not just friends we are more then that."
