19. Beauty and the Beast

(The whole castle is in a fuss.)
Katharine: Archibald, you'll check if the master is ready.
Archibald: Oui, madame!
Katharine: And you Françoise, you'll take care of Beau. Tonight is going to be very special.
(Françoise nods and walks away. Katharine is looking around if everything is okay. Then the Beast appears in a blue suit. Archibald walks behind him.)
Katharine: Oh my, master! You look stunning!
Beast: Thank you, Katharine. Do you think Beau would like it?
(Katharine wants to answer it but Françoise comes.)
Françoise: Ask him himself.
(Beau comes walking down the stairs in a yellow/gold suit.)
Beast: Beau, you look....beautiful.
(Beau bows.)
Beau: Thank you, Adam. You look very handsome.
(Beast walks to him and helps him down the stairs like a real prince. They have dinner. Suddenly music starts to play.)
Beau: You wanna dance with me?
Beast: Oh no, I don't da...
Archibald, Françoise, Katharine: Dance with him!
(The two dance an waltz. Suddenly Beau rests his head on Beast's chest. They continue their waltz until the music stops and they bow. The Beast takes Beau's hand and walk with him to the balcony.)
Beau: It's so beautiful at night.
(Beast looks at Beau.)
Beast: It is beautiful.
(Beau looks at the Beast and notices that he was talking about him and not the view. He shyly looks away.)
Beast: Beau?
Beau: Yes, Adam.
Beast: Are you...Are you happy here?
Beau: I am.
(Then Beau's smile drops.)
Beau: I do miss my father...
Beast: Do you want to see him?
Beau: If only that was possible.
Beast: It is. Wait...
(Beast walks inside and fetches the mirror.)
Beast: This is no ordinary mirror. It can show you whatever you want to see.
(He hands it over to Beau. Beau looks at it.)
Beau: Show me my father.
(Beau is shocked. His father is everything but okay.)
Beast: Beau, what's the matter?
Beau: My father, he is...he is ill! I have to go to him.
Beast: Than you may go.
Beau: What?
Beast: You're no longer my prisoner. You're free.
Beau: Oh thank you so much.
(At first he wants to kiss Beast's cheek but he hugs him instead.)
Beast: Keep the mirror, so you can see me whenever you want. Now, go. Take care of your father.
Beau: I will! Thank you so much!
(Beau leaves. The beast watches him leave.)
Beast: Goodbye, Beau...
(The three servants walk up to their master.)
Archibald: And, how did it go?
(Beast doesn't reply.)
Françoise: Master?
Katharine: Where's Beau?
Beast: I let him go.
Françoise: You did what?
Beast: I did the right thing. That's what I did. I set him free. I had to.
Archibald: But why?
Beast: Because...Because I love him.
(All of them are very sad.)
