Annabeth P.O.V.

Percy Jackson is the bane of my existence. It's like he's been sent from hell to ruin my chances with Luke!!

"Hey, Wise Girl! Is that scar on your left hand?" Percy says, obnoxiously loudly.

I clench my fists to keep myself from punching him, "Why do you care, Jackson? Yes, it is, but you should be focusing on your work, Seaweed Brain!" I retort, trying to focus on the paper Mrs. Laurens gave us.

"It's nothing, Annabeth... Just ignore him..." Piper whispers to me from the desk next to the one I share with Percy.

"Hey, you get to share with Luke, so shut up!" I say back, still attempting to write my paper.

"What topic have you chosen, Ms. Chase?" Mrs. Laurens asks, looking over my shoulder at my work.

"The wage gap for women and men." I say. It's a paper about a problem we think we could change easily. I think that women should be equal, because even though we're better men would complain if we were payed more.

"Ah, good choice! How do you think we could change that?" Our teacher says, smiling.

"I think we could start by having equal amounts of each gender in jobs, and then just pay them all the same." I state, putting the pencil back onto my paper.

"Okay, what about you Mr. Jackson?" Mrs. Laurens asks, moving on.

"Oh, um... I, um... Pollution in the ocean?" Percy says, phrasing it more like a question.

"That is a very serious problem, Mr. Jackson. What can we do to change it?" She replies, forcing a smile.

"Have mandatory water clean up, making recycling mandatory, and stuff like that..." Percy says, kinda sounding serious about this. Did I just say Percy and serious in the same sentence? Weird. Well, it does have to with water, and he's weirdly passionate about water.

"Okay, nice work, keep it up, Mr. Jackson!" Our teacher says, enthusiastically moving back to the front of the room. "I'm going to give you all some free time for staying on task today! You have ten minutes."

I quickly turn to Luke and Piper's desk. "H-h-hey, Luke..." I say, fighting a blush.

"Hey, Annabeth! How are you?" Luke says warmly.

"Okay, I don't know how I'm going to finish this essay..." I say, casting a glance around the room to find Percy talking with Leo and Jason.

"Yeah, right! You always ace everything, Annie!" Piper says, rolling her eyes at me.

"She isn't wrong, Annabeth." Luke says, a hint of laughter in her voice.

I roll my eyes at them, "Whatever guys..."

Percy P.O.V.

"Annabeth has a scar on her left hand exactly like the one my soulmate has. But it could be anyone, right?" I ask Jason and Leo, worried that she'd never like me. I mean, if my soulmate is someone that hates me... That can't work out well.

"I mean, I guess, but... If it's exactly the same..." Jason says, scratching the back of his head.

"Dude, I think you need to stop over analyzing this. If she's your soulmate, she's your soulmate. Now, did you guys hear that we have a new girl?" Leo says, messing with some rubber bands.

"Yeah, he name is Calypso or something..." I say, still thinking about Annabeth's scar on her hand. I mean, she hates me. And I mean, hates me. And she's head over heels for Luke, who I hate. He's just such a stereotypical jock, and he likes to pick on me and my friends. He used to be like a brother to me but once high school started, something changed. He started being friends with some older guys who made him a bad person. I don't know, I just feel like, even if she hates me, she deserves better than him.
