Around 4 am in the morning I woke up to my phone vibrating. Who could the hell be calling me at this time? I assumed it was my sister, so I just picked it up.

"What are you doing up at 4 am? I'm not picking you up from a party if you're drunk." I said grumpily.

There was some silence on the phone before a deep voice answered, "That sounds like somewhere I'd wanna be at."

I sprang up from my bed realizing this caller was no one I could recognize and glanced at the screen. It said 'Unknown Caller' "Who's this?" I asked confused. It was too early in the morning to even think about anything.

"The phone's owner" the deep voice responded.

"This is my phone... I set it down by my bed before sleeping, and it hasn't moved anywhere."

"Look through the phone you are holding" it demanded.

I groaned and wiped my eyes as I looked at the wallpaper... yep definitely not my phone. It was a picture of some girls at a pool with a couple of guys.

"How the hell did I even get your phone?? And who has mine?!" I asked annoyed. Great. Now I had six days to figure out how to get it back without getting myself involved with something that could end up badly.

"Well if your phone has a pic of two girls at a farm, then I have yours." he said.

"That's my sister and me." I informed him. "How the hell did we swap phones?"

There was an extended period of silence which made me worried I had lost him. But then he responded, "Oh I remember you! You're that chic at Starbucks I saw yesterday."

Great. I thought about what happened yesterday, and it did seem to make sense. Both of our phones looked the same, and I didn't even bother checking to make sure I had the right phone. "You better not do anything on my phone or I swear to God I'll-" I threatened until he stopped me mid-sentence.

"Or what? Listen You better rethink what you're saying to the person who is holding your phone kitten." He replied chuckling. "Let's see.. who could I send dirty pictures to at 4 in the morning...Delilah...Aunt J...Lexie?"

"You wouldn't dare! Don't forget I have your phone too! And don't call me kitten!" I shouted. I knew I was going to get myself involved in something. Ugh.

He laughed. "If you want to send naked photos from my phone, be my guest." He paused. "But can you be sure to save it so I can see it later?" He continued.

"Gross you're such a perv..." I pause. "What even is your name?"

There was another period of silence. "Luke. My name's Luke."

I scanned my memory to see if I had encountered any Luke's, but nothing seemed to come up. "Luke? That's an interesting name."

"It's an ok name. How about you?" His voice sounded strained.

I sighed. Did I genuinely want him to know my name? I eventually caved and replied, "Evelyn."

"Pretty name for a pretty girl" he responded.

"Shut up. How are we going to g-" I got cut off. Great. That means I have to talk to him later. I sighed and turned Luke's phone off. As much as I wanted to get my phone back..this could wait until morning. I was too tired to call him back.

A few hours later after tossing and turning, trying to escape my thoughts and ignoring my lack of sleep, I was awakened by a frigid substance dripping down my ears. I jolted up and scanned the room for the culprit.

"Morning you hairy kiwi" Kendra hummed as she shifted the curtains exposing all forms of light into my dull room.

I placed a pillow over my face and tried to avoid anymore Kendra commotion, but I slowly surrendered as the pillow was soaking wet and Kendra had proceeded to jump on my bed.

"Mmm..not noww...5 more minutes please" I mumbled while yawning.

Kendra ignored my request and proceeded to make my morning chaotic by giving her daily pep talk. "Today is going to be one of the most important days of your life! Aren't you hyped?" She yelled.

"You say that every day...what's so special about today? It's just going to be the same as every other day." I uttered while rolling my eyes and reaching for the glass of water nearby.

Sighing in disappointment, Kendra proceeded to explain her plans for her second to last day at home. "Well, first off we're going to go to head into the city where many opportunities await. Second, we're going to find you a job...then we ar-"

My eyes widened as I choked on the water I had been sipping. "We're what?!" I shouted.

"You heard me you bald mango.. we are going to find you a job. Asap. You need a way to make money because who's gonna pay for your expenses while I'm gone?" she said drinking the rest of the water.

"But Kendra..that's not necessary" I whimpered. Sometimes Kendra cares too much. She was right though. Ever since the incident our aunt and uncle haven't done much for us except provide food and a place to stay.

"No more... just get ready and meet me downstairs in ten..otherwise there will be consequences," Kendra said as she left me to undress.

I sighed and dragged myself to the chair. I'm not the best at being clean...and hey don't judge. We've all done this at some point in our lives. I tossed some dirty laundry out of the chair and eventually found a sweatshirt and leggings to put on. I then proceeded to walk into the bathroom and wash my face. I stared at myself...my head began to swirl with thoughts once again. I wasn't pretty...not like Kendra. I've always secretly wished I was her. After a few minutes, I heard shouting from across the house.

"Get downstairs now! You're making us late!"

I sighed and grabbed the phone while heading towards the familiar voice almost forgetting about what had happened the day before. Kendra had made some pancakes and eggs for me, and it looked like she was mad that I took so long. Ignoring her and the food, I turned on the phone and saw I had one missed call from Luke. Ugh...I wished I could forget about all this.

"I'm here..let's go before you erupt." I said jokingly entering her car.

Before I could do so though, she yanked the phone out of my hands and tossed it into her purse.

"Not today...you are going to live without your phone for a whole day.. got it? I don't want you to become hooked on this crap" she said rolling her eyes.

Immediately I reached for it back. "Nonono you don't understand..it's not m-"

"I don't care what your excuse is." Kendra said sternly turning on the car.

I sighed in defeat and sank into the leather seat.
