Vance arrived at the apartment very early Saturday morning.
I had heard the sound of keys, and then the door opening and I felt Colby get up from the bed beside me and walk into the living room. The two of them were quiet for some time, and then I could hear Colby's voice questioning Vance's whereabouts. I'm not sure if Vance responded, but if he did, it was in a tone way too low. They didn't talk, and I think it's because the both of them were extremely tired. But as soon as the sun came back up, the two of them had a lot of discussing to do it. By the time ten o'clock rolled around, I was awake and I somewhat expected Colby to be up and out of my way, but he was still in bed as well. He was facing the ceiling and his eyes were open. He had to be thinking of something and I was guessing it was either about what happened with us last night, or the fact that Vance was finally home. Either way, both of the topics were somewhat controversial so I decided against bringing them up. At least not right now.
"Good morning," I whispered. Colby had every reason to be angry with me so I wasn't surprised at how he quickly left the bedroom and made his way towards the bathroom. I glanced out the window that was positioned just above the bed. The blinds were open, and I couldn't help but wonder if they'd been open all night. Colby's apartment was positioned towards the back of Howard but at certain angles people walking past could see directly into the house.
Had anyone seen what happened last night?
The snow had stopped falling and today would be the perfect time to just leave. Colby and I needed to talk, but I'm sure he'd rather deal with Vance right now, and worry about me later. I got up from bed and found the jacket I brought with me to Colby's house thrown over the back of an empty chair. My dirty stuff were stuffed into a paper bag, and it didn't take long for me to put those in the bag I brought. I didn't pack much, so packing back up wasn't much of a hassle. Slinging the bag over my shoulder, I left the bedroom and made my way towards the living room. Vance was seated on the couch and at the feel of an extra presence, he turned around. I didn't know if Colby told Vance who exactly told him about his little cocaine and alcohol problem, but by the way Vance looked at me with a questioning look on his face, I was sure he was just confused as to why I was here.
"If Colby asks, I went back." I told him. Vance nodded.
"Do you know? About like..."
"Yeah..." I nodded. It was clear he was referencing to everything that was going on, and it was clear that he was a little embarrassed at the fact that I knew. "Get some help, okay?" I questioned him. He nodded but his eyes and his demeanor lacked the promising look I was hoping for. Buttoning up the last stray buttons of my jacket, I exited Colby's apartment. I was hoping for Colby to run after me and to chase me, but after walking a couple blocks it was clear that he either didn't know, or didn't care.
I found myself pulling out my phone and calling Alisha.
She picked up in the phone in no time, and she sounded way too happy to see me. "Is that the sound of my no longer virgin BFF?" Alisha questioned. Her voice sounded far away at first, and then gradually it seemed as if she got closer to the phone. She sounded way too awake for it to be only eleven o'clock in the morning.
