Friends

(Y/N) hugs Hinata tightly before stepping away from him and the train he's about to get on. She waves at him, reminding him to stay safe and make sure to text her. Her head unconsciously turns to the right so she can watch Kenma standing next to her on the platform. Despite his messier look, just a glance at his soft features causes
(Y/N)'s heart to jump and her head to cloud slightly. She shakes the thought away and turns from the now moving train. She regrets what she'd said to Kenma, she shouldn't have butted in, especially when it wasn't even Kenma that had told her about the situation. She was sure at the very least that he disliked her now but she wasn't even sure he'd liked her in the first place. To her they had seemed to get along but maybe that was just because of Kuroo, maybe the fast heart beats and messy thoughts were hers and hers alone. But still she wants to apologise for sticking her nose into other people's business, so she faced the slight boy, he now stood a few inches above her whereas , before she left, it'd been mere centimetres,
"Kenma-kun," she said, the boy looked down at her, his long eyelashes forming a lattice over his eye, "Umm," some how it'd gotten harder for her to speak to him but why? Before, she new she had a crush on him and her heart would flutter when he was around but this was different, more immobilising. Sure he'd gotten taller and apparently cuter as well but that wasn't it, there was something else prohibiting her breathing and speech. But she couldn't let that stop her so she gulped hard, swallowing whatever feeling was clogging her throat,
"Kenma-kun I'm sorry," phew, she thought however, when she looked up at the boy he looked confused, so she decided to clarify, "I'm sorry for butting in to the argument you and Kuroo had, I shouldn't have said anything. I just wanted to help but I shouldn't have intervened because it had nothing to do with me and I understand if you're angry at me and want me to stop talking I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry." The words came out in a rush and she took a few deep breaths afterwards, fully prepared to have to leave soon thereafter. Her head was pointing down to the ground, waiting to hear those dreaded words but what she heard was not at all expected. An angelic giggle-like laugh drifted from the boys lips and (Y/N)'s head shot up as he did it again. (Y/N) couldn't believe her eyes, or her ears, or anything else right now. Kenma was actually laughing, and it was beautiful. The most she got was a smile and barely even that. To her, his light chuckles blocked out the noise from the rest of the station.

Eventually he stopped, returning his gaze to (Y/N),
"I'm not," he stated in his typical fashion
"Not what?"
"Not mad at you."
(Y/N) beamed making Kenma's cheeks a little warmer.
"I'm sorry, in fact," (Y/N) furrowed her brow
"What are you talking about? I was the one sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong!"
"I shouldn't have snapped at you. You were only trying to help."
"But..."
"Sh." Kenma cut her off, "We're friends again it doesn't matter." (Y/N) nodded and Kenma cracked a slight sad smile.

Friends. The word tore at both their hearts a little.

A/N my grammar is very lacking sorry. Also I feel as though this is extremely cliche and my apologies for that but I needed them to make up.
Hope you enjoyed
