I gulped down a fair amount of air, realizing that I had just called Andy 'Daddy' out loud in front of a complete stranger. Well, she was a stranger to me, anyway.

And I totally expected that Andy would flip, but surprisingly, he grinned at me. "Well hi there baby, what a pleasant surprise." He said, genuinely meaning it. And I couldn't help but to smile. He then glanced at the woman who stood beside his desk, his jaw tightening as his attention was momentarily directed at her. "You are dismissed, miss Clarke."

Her face reddened as she nodded nervously, her eyes flicking towards me before she made her way out of the office without even a single word. Andrea followed her soon after.

"Well that was awkward." I murmured blatantly, the second the door clicked back into its lock.

Andy shoved his chair back a little and sighed, patting his lap. "Come here." He whispered, his voice going a little croaky.

I bit my lip and skipped over to Andy, eagerly climbing onto his lap. "Sorry about that, Daddy. I didn't mean to embarrass you, in case I did." I immediately apologized, fiddling with his tie a little.

But Andy shook his head. He wrapped his arms around me, chuckling a little. "It's alright, I wasn't embarrassed. Besides, I'm going to fire her anyway."

I frowned and looked him in the eye. "Fire her?" I asked. "Is she the one who messed up your schedule?"

Andy's face went serious, his brows furrowing as he took a moment to think. "No, I already fired that one. This one started two hours ago and she already attempted to flirt with me. I don't really desire to have such behavior at my office anymore."

An inevitable smile appeared on my face. Admittedly, I loved knowing that Andy didn't want others flirting with him anymore. Before there was 'us', literally every woman who worked here would flirt shamelessly. At the time, he didn't react to it, but he never told anyone to stop either. He definitely never fired anyone over it. It was kind of amusing. . . and satisfying.

"So serious." I murmured, my voice going low as I frowned playfully. But I couldn't keep up the mocking act, not for long anyway. My frown unfolded and I couldn't help but to laugh. Luckily, Andy just laughed too.

He cupped my face into one of his hands and smiled. "I'm glad you dropped by, baby girl. It really is pleasant." He then told me before kissing me softly.

I kissed him back almost instantly, having my lips latched onto him with the feeling like I hadn't kissed him in months. Of course I had, pretty much just the night before, but that was just how kissing Andy always felt. . . like the last time had been too long ago.

But our moment was pretty short-lived. . .

"Sir, I have what you asked for; the three best jewelers in the vicinity of Los Angeles. I have found The Knot, LA Diamond Factory and—oh I'm sorry, I'm interrupting."

Andy groaned against my lips before finally pulling away. He swung the chair around just enough so he could look passed me, his face contorting into one of frustration. "I believe that's what knocking was invented for, miss. . ."

"Reardon." The woman was quick to finish. Apparently she was new too.

"Right." Andy noted, clear disinterest in the sound of his voice. "Leave your research on my desk here and ask my friend Andrea to get me a coffee from across the street, alright? Can you do that?" I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep myself from giggling.

"Yes, of course sir. Any specific type of coffee?"

Oh man, I wish the world could've seen the subtle expression of annoyance on Andy's face that I was seeing from up close at that moment in time. It amused me to no end. It didn't amuse me that he was annoyed, it's just amused me how he acted towards the receiving end of his bad mood.

"There's no need for you to know that. She knows what to get me. Now go."

And without another word, she was gone.

"Baby, remind me to fire her too." Andy then grumbled below his breath, slowly rubbing his forehead before he then took a deep breath and sighed.

I chuckled a little at that and pecked his forehead the first chance I got. "You can't just fire everyone, Daddy. You can't run the place by yourself." I simply pointed out.

"I'll never be by myself. . . Sarah will be here, since you made me promise you to let her keep her job." He then countered, grinning a little. "Though I must say, her looking at me like she's going to stab me in the eye with a pencil at any given moment is kind of disturbing." His eyebrows furrowed together as he spoke, and all I could do was giggle at the idea of Sarah going after Andy with a pencil. "And naturally, that amuses you."

"Sorry, Daddy." I apologized, still giggling but admitting honestly that it did seem pretty funny in my head. "Anyways, you're investing in jewelers now?" I wanted to know, my curious side taking control of me.

Andy reached over to the small stack of new files and shoved them into one of his drawers. "In a way." He simply told me before firmly shutting the drawer. Fine, I got the hint; I no longer worked so it wasn't my business. Figures. "You know, your birthday is next week." He then began, clearly changing the subject.

I nodded knowingly.

"Do you know yet what you want?"

"Nope, no idea."

Andy smiled, tucking a strand of loose hair behind my ear. "Well, your time is running out, baby, so you better think of something soon." He said, and I nodded again. "I want to make it the best birthday you've ever had, but I'm going to need your help too."

An uncontrollable smile erupted onto my face. My birthday usually didn't mean all that much to me, but this year, I suppose that I was pretty excited. "Thank you, Daddy." I told him sincerely, leaning in against his warm chest.

Andy put an arm around me and kissed the top of my head. "For what, baby girl?" He wanted to know.

But I just shrugged. "For everything."
