"What about blue?" he asked, his left hand tugging the edge of the blanket absentmindedly.

"Blue," she said. "Is the sound of waves on a shore. It's birds chirping in the sky in summer. It's a cool glass of water after being outside in the heat. It's sincere. It's calming and relaxing...peaceful. Blue is tranquility. Blue is soft."

"I thought blue was sad," he said. "You know...People say they're 'feeling blue'."

"Blue can be sad too. Grey is also oftentimes a sad color. Blue is feeling sad in passing, sometimes for no reason in particular. Blue isn't being heartbroken...that's for stronger colors, like red for anger and grey for deeper grief."

He was distracted momentarily by the brush of her hand against his own.
