Ariel rubbed her eyes for the millionth time, trying to make herself fall asleep. She turned over and looked towards the digital clock beside the bed. It read '05:57', meaning that it was nearly the sixth hour, which also meant that Ariel had around two hours until Erica was going to come into the room she had been residing in to wake her.
After her encounter with the sea-witch Ariel had been left feeling extremely uneasy. The deal she had made was based off an extremely impulsive decision. Ariel would do anything to be with Erica but the feeling was no where near mutual. Erica had only allowed her to stay out of pity, nothing more-nothing less.
She knew that the likelihood of making Erica fall in love with her in the next two days was slim, but she hoped that the sea-witch stayed true to her word and cast a charm to open her heart up to Ariel more. It saddened her that any love Erica felt for her would be fake, but knew that without it she would end up being nothing but foam upon the ocean for all eternity.
The sun peaked through the curtains, alerting Ariel that the morning had come. She climbed out of bed and slowly made her way over to the windowsill. She pulled the curtains open and stared out of the glass longingly. She could see the ocean from the penthouse, and she wished with all her heart that things didn't have to be so complicated. Why couldn't her people accept her for who she was? They shunned her and made her feel awful about herself just because she didn't fit what society classed as 'normal'.
Her longing turned to anger when her thoughts drifted to the opinions on discrimination against other minorities. If anyone was caught doing or saying any acts of racism against other merfolk then the punishment was death. Anyone was caught doing or saying any acts of bigotry against other merfolk also faced the punishment of death. Homophobia had no punishment, and was very much encouraged among merfolk. Her Father was one of the most avid supporters of public lynchings of merfolk that held attraction towards those of the same gender, and had tried to hide Ariel away from people so she wouldn't end up being one of the unfortunate souls hung above the surface and left to die.
She thought that she really was broken, and she couldn't be fixed. She felt disgust for herself and went through a faze where she threw herself at any and every merman in an attempt to 'cure' herself. In the end, she had been left with her purity gone and held even more resentment towards herself than ever. She then came to the realisation that she wasn't the one at fault as she was simply being herself. Those who shared the awful opinions towards her were really the problem, and Ariel vowed to punish them when she became Queen. How dare they shun her and make her loathe herself for something that wasn't her choice and didn't affect them in any way.
Soft knocking brought Ariel out of her thoughts. She walked over to the door to reveal an anxious looking Erica. "How did you sleep?" She asked, scanning Ariel's features with her ocean eyes. Ariel shook her head. "you didn't sleep?" Ariel nodded weakly. "me neither. I have an exam today and the examination system has changed so whatever I get today will make up 100% of my final grade." Ariel leaned forwards and traced her fingers across the dark circles underneath Erica's eyes. She didn't know if it was purely her imagination playing tricks on her due to sleep deprivation but she swore she saw Erica lean into her touch with an almost content look. Maybe the sea-witch had stayed true to her word after all? Whatever Ariel thought she saw was replaced with a small grin as she retracted her hands. "nothing a bit of concealer can't fix." Ariel grinned in return. She liked it when Erica was happy, it brought a small part of light into the darkness that was her life. "In a sense I'm kind of glad that you didn't get any sleep because i won't have to worry about you whilst i'm gone. I'll be back soon, uh..." Erica looked lost in thought as she tapped her chin with her index finger. "I've forgotten what I wanted to tell you but i'm sure i'll remember when i come back. I'll see you later." Ariel gave her a small wave as she left the room, and climbed back onto the plush bed as the sound of the front door locking echoed through the penthouse.
Whilst she slept every dream she had was plagued with nightmares of the sea-witch and death. Throughout each dream the identity of whoever was dying was masked by the shadows, but Ariel assumed that the person was her as the sea-witch was constantly involved.
By the time she had re-awoken it was a lot darker than it was hours earlier. She sat up, groggily rubbing her eyes before standing up and wondering downstairs. She thought that she was alone in the penthouse and was shocked when Erica stumbled into the lounge, clearly intoxicated.
Ariel took in her appearance and blushed. Erica was clad in a tight red garment that accentuated each and every voluptuous curve in her body. Her raven her was put up into an intricate braid that displayed her neck temptingly, and her lips were coated in an even more tempting carmine hue.
"D-do y-ou-ou think i'm purdy?" She slurred, falling face down next to Ariel onto the plush grey settee. She turned towards Ariel and brought their faces dangerously close together. "because I think you are very purdy."
Ariel gulped audibly, flickering her eyelids shut. She leaned forwards, only to be met with nothing. She opened her eyes to see Erica running towards the door, giggling. She followed her all the way outside, to the edge of the sand that met with the waves of the ocean.
She searched for her with her eyes, but couldn't make anything out of the shadows. A wet hand made its way onto Ariel's shoulder, and she turned to face whoever was there defensively. She softened her features when she realised that it was a soaking wet Erica.
Ariel guided her back to the penthouse grounds, but stopped when she tried scrambling away again. She sighed and grabbed onto her wrist just as she jumped into the pool, bringing Ariel in the water with her. She felt thrashed her body around, somehow making herself keep her head above the water before looking for Erica to save her from drowning-again.
She held Erica in her arms tightly at an intimate proximity, making sure she couldn't slip out and possibly sink to the bottom. The only source of illumination was the white glow of the moon, which shone on Erica's face in a way that made her look even more divine. The fiery desire in Erica's eyes drew Ariel in, like a moth to a flame. Both of them stared at the other expectantly, waiting for one of them to commit the inevitable. Time felt as though it stopped completely as Erica closed the small distance by finally smashing their lips together.
Sparks flew as the rest of the night was filled with the bodies of both women rolling in the waves of passion, their minds constantly in a state of euphoria.

Guys i would've written an intimate scene but the rules don't allow it, so i tried my best at trying to insinuate the fact that they did have sex in that last cringe-worthy sentence.
I'm under so much stress rn and word deleted this whole chapter so it is no longer edited and won't be at its best. Two more days left to write with only a day and a bit left in the competition, don't you just love my disorganisation. Also if you watched Xfactor yesterday are you sad that Honey G went home? I'm not bc if she didn't then 5AM would have gone home and I want them to win.
If you're one of the fans in Melbourne that were a part of baso violating the twins then you're lucky you are on the other side of the world otherwise you would have to catch these hands.
