I found Nate in the park where Nia had been hurt. In the middle of the field I saw Nate doing something that stopped my heart. Nate was rubbing faces with another wolf. How could he do that to Nia? I growled and ran over to them. I pushed Nate away and he fell to the ground. He was still pretty weak. Nate looked up at me shocked.

“How could you do this!” I yelled. “Nia is missing and you are just going to forget about her.” I couldn’t believe him. Nate was many things. He could be a jerk, and he could be cruel, but I had never once thought he could be as heartless as he is being right now.

“It’s okay Cameron, it’s me.” I spun round. That was Nia’s voice. Sitting on the ground where the other she-wolf once was, was Nia. My mouth dropped and I gaped at her.

“Nia?” I asked confused. She nodded and smiled at me. Nate went over and rubbed his face against her again. He was almost purring he was so happy. I was so happy that Nia was back that I sank down and hugged them both. Nate growled and I understood that he didn’t want to share her right now. I backed off and let them have their moment.

Nia hugged Nate tight and I saw as she clutched his fur like her life was in danger. “I missed you Nate” she whispered. He whined saying he missed her too. I watched them happy that they were back together.

“Wait what are you Nia?”

She smiled and said “I’m a shape shifter.”

I squinted my eyes at her not quite believing. “Shapeshifters are extinct. They were killed by the wolves centuries ago.” A long time ago the werewolves got sick of the shapeshifters. The wolves’ council didn’t like that some of the shifters were posing as wolves. They wanted a clear distinction between the two species. A few laws turned into a riot, and the wolves didn’t take that too well. It started a little war and by the end every shapeshifter was dead. Or well we thought everyone was dead.

Nia smiled at me. “Well the wolves aren’t as effective as they think they are.” Some of the guys from the pack came running over along with the men from the wolves’ council. They all came and stood around Nate and Nia. They looked at them amazed.

“Get over here little bitch!” I spun around shocked. Who is he talking to? Standing there was a tall man. He had a harsh expression on his face. He had shaggy brown hair and dark eyes to match. There was a jagged scar running down his cheek, down his neck and disappearing under his black shirt. He wore jeans with a few holes in them, and a pair of beaten up boots. He had a long chain in his hands.

Nia pushed through me and ran over to the mysterious man. What is she doing? Wait was he talking to her? Nate took a few steps forward and growled.

“Little bitch, you’re not in the form that I like.” Nia looked back at us and the pain was clear in her eyes. Nia got down on all fours and we watched as she shifted. In moments before us stood a huge tiger. It was true, there was still a shapeshifter left.

Nate took another step and growled. Why was Nia listening to this jerk? She would never let anyone talk to her like that.

“Who are you?” I growled.

The man looked at me and his soulless dark eyes met mine. “Who I am doesn’t concern you. The only thing you need to know is that this little bitch is with me now.” I gaped at him. Did he seriously think we would just let him take Nia? And why was she listening to him? My body started to burn with anger.

“We won’t let you take her.”

“I’m not taking her. She’s following me.” Sky, Tyler, Xavier and Sven all shifted. They backed up Nate. The barred their teeth and stared down this mysterious prick.
