Millicent Maxine Devereaux was given a Gothic style mansion for her 21st birthday, October 31, 1931. This house was, and still is, located in North Georgia on the top of a grey granite mountain. The mansion overlooks a very large valley that stretches for miles.
Because of its terror movie inspired decor, the huge house became known as Dark Manor. This mansion and the land surrounding it, became the site of the world's only Gothic horror themed carnival, park and resort.
Darkland is a very unique and wonderful place. It is not your average amusement park by any stretch of the imagination. Unlike ordinary theme parks, Darkland never closes. The people who work there, also live there.
The following chapters, are a very basic account of how Dark Valley and Darkland came to be.
Please join me while I relay the story of Dark Valley, Georgia and the creation of Darkland.
