Reading and contemplating on the Quran
One of the narrators and companions of Imam Reza (as) named Ibrahim Ibn Abbas presents an interesting report in regard to Imam's treatment of the Quran:
Imam Reza (as) read the entire Quran for three days and nights and told his companions, "I could finish it in less time, but my method is to contemplate on each verse to understand its field and occasion of its revelation."
Discourse with Quran
He also adds whatever the Imam (as) said and answered beside his examples had roots in Quran verses.
All his words, answers and examples came from the holy Quran.
Reciting Quran while travelling
Raja bin Abi Zahhak, one of the state officials of Ma'moon government who was responsible for bringing Imam (as) from Medina to Khorassan.
Besides presenting a long report on Imam's worship, he mentions Imam's reading of the Quran: "He used to leave his bed and read the Quran, whenever he saw a verse containing the names of the heaven and hell, he started weeping and beseeched Allah to grant him the heaven and took refuge in Allah from hell's fire."
The secret of Quran's eternity
One day, Imam Reza (as) was explaining the greatness and glory of the Quran and its authority and miracles saying,
"The Quran is the firm rope of Allah and firmest handhold, ideal and exemplary path; it guides and leads towards paradise and is the savior from the fire (of Hell).
It is not corroded or worn out with the passage of time.
Moreover, its continuous reading and oral recitation does not devalue and depreciate it, since it is not made to exist for a certain age and period apart from other ages and periods.
Instead, it is a proof and reason for all human beings. Falsehood cannot affect it in any aspect.
It has been revealed by Allah, the All Wise, and All Praiseworthy."
