"Calum?" I called out as I wandered through the house, not being able to find him. I wandered into the living room and gasped. Our song was playing as candles lit the room. Calum smiled at me as he stood there.
"What's this?" I asked as I walked to him.
"I thought I'd do something small but special for our three year anniversary." He smiled as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Y/N, I love you so much. We've been best friends since we were teenagers and I can't imagine being with anyone else. So I have something to ask you." He spoke as he let me go and got down on one knee. I covered my mouth in shock as he opened a small box to reveal a ring.
"Will you marry me?" He asked. I looked at him speechless. I shook my head.
"I-I can't." I choked. His smile immediately faded.
"What?" He choked.
"Calum, I'm only twenty, you're only twenty-one, we're still so young, I want to travel the world with you, I can't be tied down when I'm so young." I sighed. He shook his head as he stood up.
"Y/N, I love you, okay? I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I'm ready to raise a family with you. I'm ready to settle down with you." He shook his head. I just looked at him.
"I'm sorry." I choked. He sighed.
"I have actually booked us two tickets to America." I admitted. His eyes widened.
"If you go, I won't be here when you get back." He sighed.
"What, you're not coming with me?" I choked.
"No. I'm not." He spoke. I nodded as I looked down, trying to hide the tears.
"Well I'm leaving in an hour." I choked. He looked up and scoffed.
"You're unbelievable." He shook his head as he grabbed his jacket and and keys before opening the door.
"Wait, what-"
"I thought you loved me, Y/N." he cut me off. My eyes widened.
"I do, Calum, of course I do, I'm just not ready to settle down yet. Ask me in five years and it'll be a yes." I choked.
"I'm not going to wait five years, Y/N. I'm ready to marry you now, I'm ready to start a family with you now. If you're not...well." He scoffed.
"Calum, please-"
"If you leave for America, while I'm gone, I won't be here when you get back." He shook his head. I looked down as I felt tears prick my eyes.
"I guess this is it then." I mumbled. He sighed, his eyes glazing over.
"Yeah. I guess it is." He muttered. I bit my lip, trying to hold back the tears.
"Goodbye Y/N." he mumbled before shutting the door.

Calum's P.O.V

Calum walked along the street, his hands shoved in his jacket pockets. He just looked ahead, letting the tears roll down his face. How could he have let her go so easily? Yeah he was upset that she didn't want to marry him but...he loved her. He wanted to travel with her. He wanted to be with her. He got out his phone and looked at the time. 11:35pm. Y/N had said she was leaving in an hour. He had time. He had time to get her back before she left. He turned on his heels and broke into a sprint, determined to get back in time.
He fumbled to get his key out as he rushed up the path to the apartment. He shoved the key in the lock and let himself in.
"Y/N?! Y/N!" He yelled, running through the apartment. His eyes widened as he saw the wardrobe open and all of Y/N's clothes gone.
"No, no, no." He mumbled to himself.
"She can't be gone, she can't be." He shook his head as he grabbed his phone and pressed her name before holding the phone to his ear. His eyes widened as he heard her ringtone.
"Y/N?! Y/N, where are you?!" He yelled. His breath hitched as he looked at the table. He slowly hung up and walked towards it. He gently picked up Y/N's phone.
"No." he whispered, tears spilling from his eyes.
"I'm too fucking late!" He yelled to himself. He put the phone down before letting the tears fall.
