"It's a girl!" The doctor exclaimed, cradling the small body. A mother watched as her child was cleaned and assigned a gold necklace.

"Do you know how these work, ma'am?" The nurse said in a soft voice. The mother shook her head, while saying "She's my first," .

"Ah, okay. A necklace is assigned to every baby born. On the chain, there is half of a shape. The other half is assigned to the child's soulmate. Oh, and as they get closer to their soulmate, their necklace glows. Do you understand?"

The mother slowly nodded, but said, "How do you know who is each other's soulmate? Do you just choose?"

The nurse smiled, and said, "I'm required to say that we can just 'sense' it, but I feel like that isn't a very good reason. It's a rather big secret, and all information is classified". The nurse promptly left after saying that.
