Alive

I have been born again three times this week
So there are three more things you cannot ask
Of me, for they are dead and I'm alive
And therefore I know nothing of their ways.

Ask me instead of life since birth anew
Ask me of how I now am, for it is all
I know, and anything that came before
Is distant to me as my mother's womb.

I know not of it, not the least except
The things that I am told; and what are those
But things I've never known in my whole life
Those things I've never known since I've been born.

Here wonder now should I take time or heart
To reminisce of olden days gone by.
