Casey and Edith enjoyed the sunrise before Casey sighed "You fell so hard for him." She muttered, turning to her sister.
Edith smiled as she looked at Casey, crossing her arms as she felt a cold breeze go through the small tree house.
"He was nice at first, but then something…happened. I don't know what, mom and dad didn't know what; but he changed to rapidly." Casey said, picking at her nails.
The youngest sister nodded "Changed how?" she asked.
Casey smirked "He became so controlling of you, after nearly a year of dating, he became so crazy." She said, taking a moment to warm herself up.
"He murdered one of your best guy friends because he hugged you. And you witnessed it happen." Casey said, looking up from her nails, warm tears forming in her eyes.
Edith took in a deep breathe, she could feel goose bumps forming on her skin and she wasn't sure if it was from the story or from the cold upstate New York air.
Casey swallowed hard "He gave you that scar, he tried to stab you, but you moved…so he pushed you off a bridge and left you to die." She remarked.
Edith was in shock; her shallow breathing was all they heard for a moment when she opened her mouth but silence herself when they both heard a branch break and footsteps coming close.
She grabbed the shot gun and held it close as they listened to the sounds; Casey carefully peered out the window of the tree house and watched as Keith stopped in the middle of the forest and looked around.
Casey grabbed Edith's hand as she reminded herself how to shoot a firearm in case their cover was blown.
The siblings held their breath as she maniacal man looked around before running with the trail towards the creek, finally letting Casey and Edith breathe again.
Edith looked at her sister "I've got a plan." She remarked, pushing herself away from the wall and down into the forest.
Casey shook her head as she stuck her head out from the tree house "No! He'll kill you." She whispered.
Edith shook her head "I'm going to end this! You can come and watch or hide in the tree house, either way, I'm doing it!" she said, walking down the trail with the shot gun.
Casey huffed as she watched her sister walk down the trail with the shot gun in her hands; feeling guilty as she began to climb down the tree house.
Edith attempted to breathe and walk quietly down the path and towards the creek; but it was easier said than done as she tried not to bump into any loose twigs or dying leaves.
Her eyes widened when she heard footsteps behind her, she turned softly only to see Casey coming up behind her as cautiously as she could.
"I can't let you do this alone!" Casey whispered.
Edith shrugged her shoulders at her sister before turning back and continued to walk; it seems like a forever journey to Edith.
It wasn't much longer when she began to see the creek through the trees and Keith looking off onto the distance as he crossed his arms.
Edith and Casey stopped, watching him for a second as Edith tried to work up a nerve to walk through the trees and confront Keith.
"Are you ready?" Edith asked.
Casey nodded "Are you?"
"I hope so." Edith remarked, walking slowly through the trees and exposing herself to Keith.
Keith turned around and smirked as Edith held the shot gun close to her body, looking Keith over to attempt and make an observation of if he had a weapon or not.
"So what are you going to do, shoot me with the big scary gun?" Keith asked.
Edith took in a deep breath "That's the plan." She responded.
Keith laughed out loud, bending forward as he did; when he stood up he brushed tears away from his eyes as he held his gun "I don't think you have it in you." He said.
"I think I do." Edith said.
"I think he might have a point." Casey remarked, hiding cowardly behind her younger sister.
Edith turned to her sister "Jesus Christ, Casey! Let me handle this!" she gripped, turning back to Keith.
Keith smiled "You should listen to your sister; c'mon, Edie, lets run away together like we planned!" he suggested, trying to seduce her with his words.
Edith shook her head "No." she said.
"No, to running away with me; or no to listen to your sister?" he asked playfully.
Edith huffed "No, to both." She hissed.
Casey sighed as she took a step back, she could feel energy around her sister and it told her to back away as Edith took a step closer.
"I'm sorry." Edith muttered gently, making eye with Keith.
Keith sighed "Sorry for what, not remembering who I am?" he asked.
Edith shook her head as she pointed the gun at Keith "No, for meeting you." She said, pulling the trigger of the gun.
Casey screamed bloody murder as the smoke cleared from the shot, Edith turned to her sister is shock as she furiously looked at her sister.
"Seriously? What did you think was going to happen?" Edith asked.
Casey shrugged her shoulders "I don't know, you would lose your nerve and then I'd have to do it for you!" she said.
Edith eye rolled as she turned back to Keith, who was slowly making his way into the creek as he gently got on his knees, then began to lie in the creek.
The sisters began to inch towards the creek as Keith groaned in pain as he bled out.
Casey sighed "He's still alive?" she asked.
Edith shrugged her shoulders "Give him a minute." She said, walking into the creek and glared down at Keith.
"You'll regret this." Keith managed to mutter out.
Edith smirked as she shook her head "No, no I won't." she whispered, watching the psychopath die in the creek, his blood following the stream.
Casey and Edith basked in the quietness as they watched the sun rise fully, welcoming a new day for the both of them.
"I call 9-1-1 then." She said, beginning to walk back towards the house.
Edith sighed as she turned to her sister "You do that."
