⠀⠀Kalani did several things differently when she was pissed off at Josh. Firstly she would lose their snapstreak, secondly she would ignore his texts and thirdly she would close her blinds. The two had bedroom windows facing each other, meaning that they occasionally passed messages by taping them to the window panes. All of these measures were, in fact, incredibly petty. Kalani, however, didn't really give a damn.⠀⠀

⠀⠀Unfortunately for her, Josh had grown used to these little habits over the years. By the time midday had rolled round, after her friends had gone home, Kalani received another text from him. "What did I do Princess? x"⠀⠀

⠀⠀Kalani flatly ignored him, preferring to do some sit-ups instead. Ten minutes later he texted her again. "I'll buy you a donut if you reply x"⠀⠀

⠀⠀Still ignoring him she took a shower. Over the sound of the running water she heard her phone buzz again. "Make that two donuts x" Pausing, with her phone in hand, she was reminded of all the happy times they had spent, when they were growing up, at the donut place in town. It was a strange place, being that it only ever sold donuts, but it had been one of their favourites for years. When he texted her again five minutes later saying he'd make it three if she met him in half an hour, she'd already made up her mind. Josh didn't know he'd hurt her. It wasn't his fault Kalani wanted nothing more than to be the girl he was with instead of the girl he texted after he got lucky. But if she couldn't have that then she would, of course, take the strong friendship they had, and in the meantime would do her best to squash her feelings away.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀"Hello Princess." Josh said happily as Kalani walked through the door of their favourite place to hang out. She scowled at him as she slid into the opposite side of the booth from him.⠀⠀

⠀⠀"Don't call me that." She said wearily. "Not when I'm already annoyed."⠀⠀

⠀⠀"So am I." Josh interjected. "We had that streak for 156 days Princess!"⠀⠀

⠀⠀"You were an asshole!" Kalani protested.⠀⠀

⠀⠀"News flash, I am an asshole. You don't normally mind that."⠀
