⠀⠀Kalani was sat on her bed, on the phone to Nia, feeling oddly happy.⠀⠀

⠀⠀"So when did you work it out? That you didn't like him anymore?" Nia asked from the other end of the line. Word had got out about Kalani rejecting Josh and Nia was feeling kinda proud of her best friend.⠀⠀

⠀⠀"It was when I was getting ready to go out. I was just so tired of trying so hard for someone who always picked someone else over me. And when he showed up with Chloe it was just the last straw." Kalani said, stretching her legs out to examine her new shoes. Retail therapy was always amazing especially when your purchase was fluffy and of the slipper variety.⠀⠀

⠀⠀"I'm so proud of you Lani!" Nia said, and Kalani sighed. "In a way I guess you did get off his nightstand."⠀⠀

⠀⠀"Yeah. I guess you can either choose to be chosen or choose to no longer care."⠀⠀

⠀⠀"So proud of you babes." Nia said as they ended the call. In a way Kalani was too, but she couldn't quite squash down the feeling of regret as she pulled her curtains shut, noticing as she did that Josh wasn't there. Not that she cared of course, it was just that something felt strange without him, like she was somehow missing something. But then she shook her head and went to go grab a midnight snack. She wasn't going to look back.⠀⠀
